Everything was perfect - Lovely setting, room with four poster bed, exquisite cookies with tea-making facilities, ample & safe parking, breakfasts to die for - even a sprig of parsley on top of the fried egg on the "full Cornish", fresh orange juice from a do-it-yourself juicer beside the breakfast table - the attention to detail is incredible. The hosts, Pippa & Hugo are absolutely charming people and have put their heart and soul into this place and it shows. They deserve a long and happy retirement and we wish them all the best for the future.

Probably the best B & B in Cornwall for the past 19 years.

We have stayed at this wonderful place for many years , we are so sad that Hugo and Phipps are “ hanging up their boots “ they are simply the best . The accommodation was first class and the establishment was run by perfect hosts . We consider Hugo and Pippa to be our friends and we hope our paths will cross again one day . As there ever , ever been a better breakfast in bed and breakfast  ?

We loved everything about our stay at Woodlands in December 2020 between lockdown 2 and 3.  Hugo and Pippa are the perfect hosts, and made us feel so welcome, they are extremely helpful, they know all there is to know about Padstow and its many fabulous restaurants.  The breakfasts were fabulous and the room was extremely comfortable room with luxury bed linen and homemade biscuits.  We are of the opinion that Woodlands is only one place to stay when visiting Padstow.

Winter Break between Lockdowns

We have been visiting woodlands for nearly 15 years and have yet to find accommodation that meets the uber standards Pippa and Hugo have accustomed us to! 
This week was our first time at Gurney House and whilst we had high expectations they were surpassed. Firstly the thought and attention that has gone it to making the accommodation Covid safe is exemplary, anyone with safety concerns about staying away can stay here with the full knowledge they will be safe as it is possible. I won’t go into every detail but as we were leaving the accommodation was being professionally blitzed by a commercial cleaner.
The new accommodation is spacious with stunning views that look out to the sea and both bedrooms have beds that are so comfortable we struggled to get up in the morning!
On arrival there was a selection of goodies including local produce and fresh flowers. Hugo and pippa have thought of everything, all appliances are of a high quality and it felt like being at home. My wife will always find something missing with self catering accommodation and I am adamant she didn’t complain once! 
After a year from hell this past week at Gurney House has been the holiday from heaven. We are going to book it again soon this is the benchmark of self catering!

Absolute perfection 

We were lucky enough to be the first guests in Pippa and Hugo’s “Gurney House Holiday Let” following its conversion from a few of their B&B rooms. We had stayed before in their B&B and subsequently had quite high hopes.

It is without a doubt the best self catering accommodation we’ve ever stayed in. Pippa and Hugo have created a fantastic, flexible place perfect for families and friends. 

Two bedrooms, a master with double and daybed (which our 6 year old loved), and one king or twin. Both with en suites, the master one being enormous! The view from the master bedroom is something else, right down to the sea. You get this view from the living room too. See my photos!

Downstairs there is a large living room, kitchen and diner, another bathroom with top quality AEG washing machine and tumble dryer. That brings me into my main point.

The fixtures and fittings are top class. Everything has been offered to the highest level. Honestly, I’ve never seen a kitchen in a place like this so well equipped. From the coffee pod machine (with Eden Project pods provided) to the countless tubs with lids (great for families) right down to the lemon squeezer and stick blender, Hugo has obviously specced it to his own standards! We actually ordered a couple of things in the kitchen off Amazon for our own kitchen. There’s also a brilliant gas BBQ on a decked terrace which we used a couple of times.

You have lots of things provided on arrival, including milk, breakfast (the bacon was amazing), tea, kitchen towel, laundry liquid and dishwasher tabs, and even fresh roses.

Honestly, what a treat. Within two days we were already wondering when we could come back.

Gurney House - The Best Self Catering We’ve Ever Experienced!

This is by far the best  bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed in. The rooms are spotless, the beds amazingly comfy and the breakfast is everything that you could want to begin your day. You wake up to the views over the fields to the sea and the sounds of the birdsong. Pippa is on hand to cook your breakfast whilst you enjoy the freshly squeezed orange juice and the array of fresh fruits and cereal. She is on hand along with Hugo  to advise you of everything you need to know about the Padstow area including walks and where to eat. As you can see we love the place and it has taken us 15 years of stays here before I wrote this review because from a purely selfish point of view I want to be sure that we can always get in!!

There are B & B's and then there are Pippa and Hugos

We just got home from a wonderful stay at Woodlands. Our room was bright, spacious and perfect for our small family. Pippa and hugo were superb hosts and the breakfast was amazing. We look forward to staying again in the future!

Weekend Away

Stayed here for 2 nights around Easter and were blown away by Pippa and Hugo’s hospitality. You are made to feel like an honoured and familiar guest. The B&B itself is beautiful, impeccably clean and homely. The room was perfect, with everything you could need, a huge comfy bed and a luxurious roll top bath - even some tasty Cornish biscuits. Breakfast was unforgettable and to quote my partner after day one “I can’t wait for pippa’s breakfast again tomorrow!” - you can’t miss Hugo’s marmalade cake; lemon curd or the hoggs pudding! Percy is also a delight and made each morning round the breakfast table even more special. We will be back!

Best B&B.... possibly in the world!

Very relaxing stay at Woodlands and well looked after by Pippa and Hugo. 
We had a lovely room and the breakfast was delicious.
Woodlands is a great location in Padstow giving the chance to drive up and the Cornish coastline
Well recommended. We will return
