The food at the Marston's is the same as any other Marston's, good quality and reliably what you expect. The service in the bar/restaurant, however, is dire. Confusion placing an order, miscommunication between till and kitchen. We were delivered something we didn't order that wasn't even on the menu /beef madras curry, ordered chicken tikka masala). The seating is falling apart in the bar area, all the floors are sticky. The hotel is shockingly poor. Lots of creaky stairs to get to the rooms, through 2+ doors and corridors, floors all creaky and sticky, shoddy old bits of carpet, doors that had been clearly kicked in, broken steps in the corridors, whole area smelled awful to the point I bought some air freshener in the Savers across the road to use in the corridor! Room basic, not worth the money we paid. Windows overlooking High St were old sash ones half open in November with plexi glass layer inside, so all noise from High St pubs etc came in at night. Paint peeling all over. Toilet seat and toilet roll holder hanging off. Shower over bath dangerously slippy and no hand rail, my mother couldn't shower for 3 days. Bad smell in room too. Wouldn't recommend.

Marstons need to take a good look at this extremely tired hotel. The paintwork is old and it definitely needs complete redecoration. The reception area was awful. Our room, No. 15. was very small with mould all over the window frames. The bathroom was grotty. The whole room needs gutting. It's agreat shame that a hotel in High Street centre of this town has been totally neglected. We definitely wouldn't eat there as if the food was anything like the reception area, hallways and rooms, that was enough to put anyone off,One question that I would like an answer is do hotels allocate the worst rooms to people who use their Tesco Clubcard to pay for them.It certainly seemed like it with this hotel from what we could see of other rooms.WE WILL DEFINITELY NEVER STAY IN THIS OR ANY OTHER MARSTONS HOTEL EVER AGAIN. The next night we stayed in a Travelodge in Ely, which made the White Hart look even worse in comparism to it.

Awful, the hotel in well situated in the High Street of Newmarket with parking. However, the hotel itself is in total need of refurbishment

Very homely feel and beautiful building and facilities! Nothing is too much for the staff! I would definitely return!

We celebrate mums 70th and was perfect place. Amazing sharers dishes, drinks and staff was so nice and very fast service. We stayed at the hotel toom and was lovely cosy and comfortable.Thank you everyone

Family trip

Lovely experience and staff were very nice and helpful.  We came here for the day and stayed over as well. The room was very nice and welcoming , warm in a cold rainy autumn day. 
Arrived earlier than the check in time and they were happy to help us with the bag , offered us a table at the bar and had a drink while waiting.  Staff attentive and good value for money ( coming from London this was a bargain)
Very clean room and nothing was too much for them( asked for extra towels and got it immediately).
We will be back on our next girls day out

Lovely place and staff are so nice 

We booked this for after a wedding the room was what we expected of it a bed for the night but was also lovely to have a big bath! Was well needed after a full day and evening at a wedding for my sore feet and bad leg! 

The reception team were lovely and let us drop our stuff off to the room and check in before the wedding which was a life saver and really appreciated.

Pleasant place to stay in Newmarket, rooms are decent and clean, credit to the housekeeping staff.

Excellent

Had a reservation for a king size bed but was given a room tiny room with a small single bed. It was impossible to sleep as there was a continuous loud banging noise from some type of industrial unit outside the room. TV only picked up a couple of channels. Have stayed here before and had good experiences, but this was disappointing as the room was not what I had reserved.

The hotel is clean, the room was basic but a good size with a decent size bathroom, could do with abit of tlc, but the room was very comfortable, there is road noise but to be expected has its on a main Rd in the centre of a lovely town and there is music on at weekend, we was staying three nights ended up staying four, I did think breakfast should be included in the price, The meal we had in the bar was very good. The lady on reception was very pleasant and welcoming, in fact all staff was pleasant,. We had a good time, the races was great, we will come again
