Absolutely horrendous place with horrendous member of male bar staff with ginger ponytail and beard talking to and treating  women horrendously. Got our order wrong and refused to then serve us unless we paid for drinks he got wrong. Disgusting man.

I had a pleasant greeting when checking in at the bar, and was given a hand with my luggage.
I had and interior room without window, which was OK for the night but probably not for a longer stay.  The TV didn't work and when I looked to see if there was a switch the back was caked in dust.  The rest of the bedroom and shower room wer clean enough but could do with a refresh.  There was a kettle with limited supplies.
It is well located for the arena, Victoria and shops and much cheaper than most other places in the area.
Due to me not having a window, it was quiet, apart from some other guests arriving back in the early morning.
No breakfast is served but there is a Wetherspoons nearby where you can grab a bite.
Somebody had been sick and there was some rubbish in the doorway when I went out for breakfast, but it had been cleaned up on my return.

Handy

The Lower Turks Head Hotel is a hotel attached to a pub of the same name in Manchester. The pub was built in the 1700’s and is a pub with character. This review is of the hotel rooms. To check in to the hotel you have to go to the pub bar. Thus if the pub is busy you wait. When I checked in the bar staff were busy but one went and got the manager. The manager, Karla, was very good, she was professional, helpful and very friendly. 
If you have mobility issues then the narrow stairs up to rooms will be an issue. 
The room was comfortable, clean and plenty of space. 
The negatives; the venetian blinds look old and struggle to stop light coming in. The hotel is on a busy intersection with a tram terminal - so it can get noisy. The tv did not work. The hotel does not supply towels - this was not a problem for me as I always travel with a towel, but be warned. 
Fix the TV, get good thick curtains (light and noise), supply towels and it would be an excellent place to stay.

Great staff, but the hotel needs updating.

The only thing more incredible about the pub is the staff. Awesome surrounding  and well done for having the best  people  on charger. Trusted me and all other guests well. Humble and kind and I hope to see you next time I visit. It was also sunny (need to use word count)

Couldn't fault it

Used to enjoy meeting friends in here prior to football but brewery now introduced a no under 18s policy, which is down right daft at 1pm on a Saturday! We all taking our trade elsewhere. Plenty other pubs in area who happy to take money from the big crowd of us for a couple hours

No kids

I booked a single room with private bathroom but when I arrived I was given room number 5 which is basically a cupboard with NO window. It is tiny and very claustrophobic. 

I was very disappointed with this as I checked my booking and there was definitely  no mention of it being  a windowless room, something I would never have booked.  So it felt very dishonest of the hotel to miss this information out. 

As I’m not one to normally complain, I’d decided to just stay as it was only one night. Next I turned on the tv and found no channels tuned, so I set it up to scan to find the channels. Unfortunately no channels were found so as well as being in a hot, windowless cupboard room, I also had no tv! 

So I went downstairs to inform the staff and they apologised and said all the rooms have no to at the moment because the ariel was damaged in wind a few weeks before. So as well as miss selling the windowless room, they also failed to inform customers of the lack of tv!  Again, there’s no way I’d book a room without a tv.

I told the staff I wasn’t happy with the cupboard like room and also having no tv and all the guy did was apologise. No offer to find a resolution, just a ‘sorry’ and expecting me to accept the situation. I stood my ground and said I don’t want the room and he offered me a full refund, which would have been fine but would have also left me in Manchester with no room at about 6pm. I told him if I take the refund he’d have to find me another hotel and suddenly he decided to actually do something about it. A quick check showed a double room on the front of the hotel was free so he offers me that instead because at least it was an actual room with a window. However, still no tv channels.

Begrudgingly I accepted because I had no other option and tbf, the room was actually quite nice.

But the way this hotel holds back important formation from customers prior to booking is misleading and unprofessional. I would never have booked a windowless room, nor one without a working tv but they withheld this information until I’d arrived and it was too late. And they way they expected me to just accept the situation without the offer of a solution is ridiculously poor. And for the record, the guy even acknowledged that the room was poor, so the6 know it’s substandard.

And if anyone from the Lower Turks Head is reading this, Room No.5 is a cupboard and should not be sold as a hotel room! 

In all it was a very disappointing stay and I’d recommend you avoid this hotel.

Untrustworthy Hotel

A couple of us call into this traditional Pub on a Thursday afternoon and it was busy. It has a terrific atmosphere and location is great pleasure not far from Victoria station and can watch out onto the street the goings-on in Manchester. 

Although the Brewery isn’t my favourite they do have some good beers that are well kept . 

The service is fast and friendly and it is not expensive for the city centre.

Bustling and enjoyable

Went in yesterday with a few friends, sat on the roof terrace which was nice despite the view. The two young bartenders on the upstairs bar, Nathan and Nial had very good customer service and had a chat with us while we were waiting for our drinks. They reccomended us a stout when i asked for guiness, we loved it! Drank it all day. Love from ireland great pub and good atmosphere.

My new favourite drink!

Shivanii and ellie are top ! Different since the refit but exactly what you’d expect from a holts. The view is now obstructed by construction but still a pleasant enough refuge to tan amber leaf and contemplate exsistence
