Started off lovely but on 1 st breakfast I asked for a omelette  there was lots of oil on it and paper thin we had been told on our arrival  that no cotton wool or cotton buds should be put down the toilet we didt but the toilet broke down for one night we had to use the ower bathroom as  out toilet counldt be fix but the owner  had the same t shirts on since we arrived  on Sunday this was now wed he had the same top on for cooking sorting the toilet out gardening and going out into looe the bed was like a rock the was a thick board under the mattress my back is sore as it is but the bed has made it worse don't  sleep here if you have a bad back it worse  I had to put one start but if I counld there be none there

Don't stay

On our arrival we had a warm welcome from Danny who opened up the off road private parking area for us. Unlike other reviews, there was no problem parking here and although a small area, there is still plenty of space to manoeuvre the car and get parked. 
The accommodation itself was very good, with private bathroom, tea/coffee facilities and even had a fridge. 
We were here for a 3 night stay and room and bathroom was cleaned daily. Even the extra touches such as a fresh bottle of water left each day gave it a warm friendly feeling. 
It is clear Danny works all hours and was always up bright and early to greet and present us a lovely cooked breakfast.  
A job well done, one of the friendliest places I have stayed.

Made our holiday even better...

Couldn’t have had a nicer stay, myself and my partner both enjoyed every moment and the stay was made exceptional by Danny, the owner. He couldn’t have been more friendly or helpful. He had great local knowledge of the area and its history and was always around to ask if you were happy and to make sure you were enjoying your stay at Meneglaze. 

Previous reviews don’t seem believable, Danny was never aggressive or confrontational and was only ever happy, friendly and approachable, from our experience this past weekend. 

Myself and my partner are both early 30’s and unless you are rude or can’t  allow  5 minutes to listen to Danny’s stories (which might I add were very interesting and funny), then he is nothing but a nice guy.  

He openly said that he is soon to be closing the business to go back to his passion of artistry, but never for one moment did he seem like he’d given up or had shown any less passion for the business or for his paying guests!! (As previous reviews had stated) 

The accommodation was great and I don’t know what more could be expected. I would definitely recommend and would have no qualms about saying the owner and the accommodation was not to be faulted.

Don’t believe all the negative reviews below!! If you want a great stay and great host, this is your place!

Unfortunately some of the comments below are accurate. Booked months ago based on very good reviews and photos.. (old now I realise from 2015)on TripAdvisor. 
Just before our stay I read recent reviews & was worried how negative they were . Too late to cancel but thought it must be ok based on previous older reviews. 
Danny was very welcoming & location is  great.
Arrived.. where he directed us how to park car..very  dead hanging baskets to front... My heart sank
The room /bathroom was very dirty/dusty We cleaned over with wipes.. Bedding /linen still had old stains which hadn't come out in the wash & was very old... Sweat stains on pillows thin quilts.. Dust everywhere ..looked as if hadn't been cleaned for a while.. I appreciate property is old..which is fine. But I expect it to be clean based on what we paid! 
Breakfast was good on first morning .. Needed to order the day before though. 
It seems now Danny has sold up he has neglected/given up the property.. Very unfair for paying guests. 
We left early..citing a family emergency.. I should have complained as I was charged full price..but just wanted to get away. 
Property needs a big clean up then it could get back its original reviews. We were very upset as holiday cut short. Sorry as Danny seems a nice guy but would not recommend at all. 



Expensive mistake

I’m writing this review on behalf of my Mum and her partner as we feel so strongly that these comments need to be made. 
They came to stay at this property last week and after being shown their room they decided to stay elsewhere. 
What they saw of the hotel is reflected in the most recent reviews of the same hotel. 
The host was dirty, dirty clothes, unshaven, greasy hair and blood on his scalp. He got uncomfortably close to both guests and said he didn’t believe in Covid guidelines. He asked for my Mum’s partner car keys so he could move their car as he wished but given his appearance my Mum refused. 
The entrance and hallway was was cluttered and the photos on this webpage do not represent the current state of the property. 
The room itself pokey and dark, the carpet had stains on it. The toilet and shower were tiny. The whole room looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. They didn’t dare look any further into the state of the bed etc. 
Both guests could not cope with the thought of the host cooking their breakfast, my Mum is a school dinner lady so she knows what she’s talking about. 
My Mum banged her head walking up to the room as there was a sign missing. 
My Mum and her partner just didn’t feel safe to stay there and soon after being shown their room they left and we’re lucky enough to find alternative accommodation a short distance away. 
After settling in the new accommodation the host of this property rang my Mum and asked her what was happening, my Mum told him they were staying elsewhere and he demanded they still paid. He was aggressive over the phone to the point my Mum ended the call.
Please please please do not book here, it isn’t even cheap. 
I did try to give no rating but Trip Advisor won’t let me submit it without a rating so I’ve given it the lowest I can.

HI you need to read this review !
So we booked here for 3 nights as booking any where right is impossible , any how this B&B came up in looe and looked great after reading the so called brilliant reviews????
We were met by a bloke called Danny lissenden and he decided he was going to tell how to park our car on a side space for 4 cars ,he was loud and quiet full of himself , to us he was scruffy unshaven and a destinctive Essex accent .
After several attempts on his orders the car was parked and made our way to a front garden over grown with weeds and a shabby looking porch entrance .
We were bombarded with rules his rules may we had ,after 30 minutes of can’t do this can’t do that , we entered our rooms mine was at the top room 4 it was old fashioned and bed and decor from the eighties.  A carpet that seen better days,it stunk of dust as l further looked the toilet had cob webs and blinds full of dust and dirty windows , l decided to pull the bed apart and found stains and yellow pillows from sweaty heads , Only then l released what a mistake we had made coming here , we smoked and was only allowed to smoke out side fair cop we knew that any way , but never got a minutes peace as he told us he life story along with  the bull . Lve met people like him before and he topped the lot , he said he was selling up after 7 years has he had enough of the business claiming he was an artist Really !!!
On our final night we returned back at the B&B and again he was there like some jumped up traffic warden my sister had enough of his attitude and he argued with threatening behaviour that if we didn’t like it that we park across the road and pay he carried on threatening to throw us out and the car park was out the kindness of his heart Really !!’ 
If you couldn’t park there he’d never get any customers and the so called great reviews l do not believe ??
Wouldn’t surprise me if he hadn’t created them himself , the man wore the same clothes for days , his hygiene was minging !! Even the the apron he wore to cook breakfast was filthy!!!! 
On the last day we declined breakfast and couldn’t wait to leave !
The man is not right in the head and shouldn’t be running such a business , further action will be taken .The so called AAA rating was over six years ago if they were to attend now in 2021 l wouldn’t be surprised if he was shut down !!!
No action for COVID was put in place and he himself told us he didn’t believe COVID and hadn’t taken up having a JAB 

If you like a scruffy B&B and an unstable , grubby man  be our guest !

WARNING

I agree with the review below about cleanliness levels.  The location is ideal for Looe and it is a lovely guest house, however the lack of cleanliness lets it down badly. Needs a deep clean of areas such as blinds, windows and general surface areas which you can't help but notice.

Cleanliness levels are poor

Myself and my partner went on holiday too Looe. After 9 hours of travelling (due to traffic) we was met on arrival by danny. First impressions.... His appearance was awful, not washed stains on his clothes etc however we looked over this and entered. To which we was given a half hour history lesson. (We continued to be polite and listened He seemed to be nice and knowledgeable) we was shown to our room, the hallway has a very strong musty smell as we walked upstairs. Entered our room which had flowers in old green water, Had not cleaned the room thrown bleach down the toilet but multiple stains on the toilet seat itself. Again we looked over it all. Took a blanket out the car thrown it over the sheet to make us a little more comfortable to even sit on the bed. Danny gave us many instructions (don’t sit on radiators, don’t have the towel rail on for two hours or more, don’t leave anything turned on, don’t do this that etc etc). Again overlooked and we brought cleaning stuff to clean it ourselves. Breakfast the next day. Edible providing you don’t look at the room around you as this was apparent that nowhere had been cleaned host still in the same clothes. Too close to us for my liking didn’t follow any Covid regulations. Again we overlooked an went out .... keep with me it gets better. 
We come back from the beach to find our car blocked in by another resident. We asked danny to call them to let us out. He told us to get a taxi. To which we replied this isn’t acceptable as we have a car we need to be able to get in and out. Long story short the other couple come back to which we felt bad towards them and likewise them us as they were told by danny to block us in. Anyway we go out come back an danny then tells us to park down the road an pay for parking as he doesn’t want us parking here anymore ( the property was advertised with free parking). We then said we need to park here as local parking was for no more than 3 hours. We said we won’t need the car tomorrow if someone wants to swap places with us. He then raised his voice shouting and become very verbally aggressive. Bare in mind we are two young women alone. After a good 15 minute discussion mainly danny shouting at us we said we didn’t feel safe to stay. Asked for our money back and we said we would pay for the one night we stayed. He then kicked us out after we gathered our things together in the room. He followed us to the room banging on the door. I told him he couldn’t come in we was packing and I felt unsafe as he had already screamed in our faces, shouting pointing fingers in my face. Once we went downstairs to put our things in the car he chased us out where he then proceeded to put his fist in my face and say I haven’t seen anything yet. 
Danny is a very frightening host, he informed us he has sold the property so doesn’t care anymore. 
He is dirty, the property is shocking but could be lovey with some care. He is a vile man and I highly hope he gets the help he needs with some very bad anger issues. We are now informing the police and have contacted booking.com to inform them too.
We left after one night we should have been there for four.

Worst place I’ve ever stayed and I’ve slept in the outback !

A homely B&B Danny was always around to help with any problems or just being there for a chat. Always interesting conversation were had breakfast.  Ah that brings me onto the big breakfast.  Sausages, bacon rashers eggs, hogs pudding,  hash browns, mushrooms,  baked beans mushrooms and tomatoes.  Along with toast and cereal amazing. Sets you up for the day 

Homely B&B with all the attention you need

I spent two nights in a very comfortable, clean room which had everything you might need.  The owner Danny made me feel very welcome and was full of helpful local information.  The full Cornish breakfast was so well cooked and set me up for the day. The B&B is very well located,  not far from the rail station and a nice pub, and just a short walk into the centre of lovely Looe.  I would definitely recommend this B&B and intend to make a return visit soon.
