Vale of Berkeley Guest House

Following myself and my now husband booking The Barn at Berkeley for our wedding back in April, myself and my mum came to view the Vale of Berkeley after a few emails enquiring for exclusive hire of the guest house for the weekend. We sat with both Claire and Harri for a while talking about the up coming wedding, the terms of the hire and what we wished for the weekend, as well as looking around the guest house to see how the logistics of the wedding morning especially would function. Everything made total sense and we were excited to be able to all settle in the accommodation the night before for a quiet family evening before the big day. In the weeks following I contacted Harri and Claire by email to enquire the best options for an evening meal in a local restaurant, myself and my husband came to the conclusion that we couldn't find anywhere appropriate so asked if we would be able to eat in, Harri and Claire explained we were welcome to however could not use the kitchen, this was fine as we were promised a few bin bags and we arrange to use disposable plates and cutlery, and order a buffet from M&S. This made for a great evening for us and hoped we were self sufficient enough to make for polite guests. The morning of the wedding Harri and Claire catered for myself and bridesmaid and friends to get ready with hair, makeup and breakfast in the dinning room while the rest of the party ate breakfast in the conservatory. It went seamlessly as far as we could see through the morning and all had a lovely breakfast. We had photographers and makeup artist and hairdresser coming and going through the morning, which was so helpful to feel welcome and relaxed for us getting ready. Harri also offered to give the guests lifts to the wedding venue, which was prearranged by email. This was a great addition to the morning and as I got ready I left my guests to arrange who had to be ready at what time for the 15minute intervals for the car ride down the road. I am told this all went well and everyone got to the venue promptly and without stress. The guest house meant that our grandparents could come away from the wedding earlier to rest and had their own keys to do so without feeling too much trouble. While the rest of us poured in at just gone midnight. The next morning we all enjoyed a filling breakfast to soak up a great night, well all but one. Some people had a little too much fun for breakfast :) I want to thank Claire and Harri for making the weekend such a relaxing experience hosted in a professional friendly manor.
