Never use Tripadvisor but had to write to say what a restful, peaceful, relaxing experience I just had staying three nights in one of Dale Farm’s wood cabins. Liz is a perfect host, made sure I had everything I needed, and brought a breakfast basket of hot sandwich and fresh orange juice each morning (£5 so v good value). The cabin is adorable, clean and cosy, set beneath tall trees with owls at night sending me to sleep. Have shared Dale Farm’s link with friends and will definitely stay again, in the cabin, and also want to try the yellow caravan, treehouse and grain store. Minutes from Hunmanby Gap beach where I swam daily, then popped in to Hunmanby village where there is a tasty bakery, fish n chips and huge pies at the Piebald Inn. Absolutely loved it all x

Perfect Treat!

We recently stayed in The Granary at Dale Farm and had a wonderful time. It was clean, bright and airy with loads of room and love the vintage furniture vibes. Had everything we needed and 2 decent nights sleep in lovely woodland grounds. 

The beach at Hunmanby Gap is 5mins drive away and is one of the nicest on the Yorkshire Coast. Highly recommend the Fish n Chips at Inghams in Filey - thanks for the tips Liz.

Stayed at Dale Farm for a relaxing getaway. It’s the third time we’ve visited and we stayed in one of the cabins this time, but have previously stayed in both the dairy and the treehouse!

The accommodation is in the countryside but the village of Hunmanby is only a 5 minute car ride away and has pubs, takeaways, a village store and restaurants.

We had a lovely walk along the huge expanse of beach at Hunmanby Gap and on the Bempton cliffs, all close by.

Idyllic stay

Stayed here over the August bank holiday weekend.  Whilst the setting was nice in a rural location. The actual accommodation was not. We stayed in an upstairs “Loft style” apartment and right from the outset the place felt damp when coming up the stairs. There was a severe problem with moss on all the rooftops and even on the front doorstep. You would step in it every morning after the birds have thrown it off the roof looking for worms. 

The furniture was very old and tired- the sort of furniture you’d get from a car boot sale at closing time. 

The bed was just awful- a very old spring mattress that sags to one side. Every spring was felt at night. 

The bathroom was clearly a DIY job made from painted jumble store cupboards. Half way through the stay I noticed just how many flies were on top of the cupboard (picture attached), clearly the owners haven’t cleaned the top of the cupboard since it was installed probably years ago. This goes for the general feeling of the place, every area just felt dirty from the floors, to the inside the drawers, the kitchen area and especially the carpets and floors.  There were flys everywhere in all of the buildings we rented. Some flies are expected on a farm but the level of flys was quite frankly ridiculous and could have been avoided by having fly screens on windows and also giving the properties a deep clean…

For the amount of money that was spent on the property it was a real disappointment and quite frankly waste of money. The owners should look at leaving hospitality as they clearly have no experience in this area, ether in dealing with customers or running a vacation rental business.

Extremely dissatisfying stay

Nothing has made me feel more at peace than the natural charm of the quaint treehouse I stayed in at dale farm
 From watching the sun rise in the morning with my cup of hot coffee to the crackle of the log burning stove in the evening warming my feet I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my stay in this cabin. I live and work in the city in a high pressure environment and coming here for a weekend away from it all has done wonders for my mental health and given me the perfect reset I needed. Liz and Paul were welcoming hosts making sure I had everything I needed and more. I also took the time to go for some walks along the nearby beach in the daytime, I will definitely be back and cannot wait for my next visit.

This is our third visit as a family, the accommodation is excellent, clean, tidy and well cared for,  it was very cold during this visit and we used the wood burner which kept the whole place warm and cosy. There is plenty to do in the area, out fog particularly liked the wide open spaces to run and play in. I doubt this will be our last visit to Dale Farm.

Dale Farm, The Winter Visit…

Stayed in the grain store for three nights. We were greeted with a friendly welcome on arrival. We had brought our own breakfast and even our own logs as we saw there was a wood burner. The grain store has a shower room with a powerful shower and hot water. The kitchen is more basic than we expected - there’s only a microwave, fridge and sink. No hob of any kind which is a shame as a little two ring camping has hob would suffice. 

Getting up and down the stairs to bed was somewhat challenging (especially after a few drinks) . The bed is just a mattress on the floor but it was ok. 

If you take your dog, all dogs have a free run in the grounds which was great. There’s an outside bbq and fire pit as well as a seating area. 

If you’re aracnaphobic, remember you’re staying in the woods - there were plenty of spiders about inside the grain store. 

Overall, it was a pleasant, quirky experience but we wouldn’t stay again primarily because of the lack of walks to the coast. 

You can either walk along path-less roads or drive to hunmanby gap and pay £5 to park, then walk to Filey. If you want to go out for a drink you’re a bit snookered really. 
 
At £125 per night, you could stay in a very nice hotel. I guess it depends what you’d prefer.

Warm welcome, lovely grounds, quirky accommodation but it was relatively expensive for what it was.

It was a lovely stay for new years, we were in the treehouse. However, there were a few faults within this which i feel necessary to bring to attention, not as complaining just feedback. The door on the log burner was broken and did not close properly so the fire would continuously go out and we would be freezing. As for the utensils, they were downstairs in the kitchen and were dirty and foisty which is understandable as they’re outside and its winter but not ideal. The treehouse also made large amounts of noise on a night as if something was unsafe. However thanks for listening to our feedback and a good stay.

We had a lovely stay in the Grain Store at Dale Farm. It has such a cosy feel to it especially with the log fire on which makes the whole place super warm. Liz was so accommodating and made our stay happen despite a last minute change of date which despite the policy stating she didn’t have to, she managed to still accommodate our needs so we didn’t lose our money! The surrounding areas are ideal for dogs and children, away from the roads and plenty open space. We will definitely stay again.

Beautiful warm and cosy lodge with wood burner. Clean shared toilet and shower room. Tasty good value picnic basket. Although no stove and we didn’t use the bbq having breakfast picnic basket and electric cool box was good enough to have cheese and biscuits and cold drinks. Fantastic pub lunch at horseshoe inn. Good location for coastal walks
