We had a really delicious dinner. Delightful friendly staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere. Log fire burning. Highly recommend and will definitely go again when in the area. We were visiting Dorset for only three days and it was raining cats and dogs but we were really glad we made the effort to go out and eat at the Acorn and left feeling happy, full and joyful

Super pub

Such a wonderful place with stand out staff and beautiful food, I see they are in the final 3 for best pub in England and this is very well deserved. What I love about the Acorn is the consistency, every time I’ve been the experience has been exceptional. Great selection of local ales and menus build around local produce. Can’t wait until our next visit!!!

Everything a country pub should be

My Husband myself and our Labrador Ernie enjoyed a weekend break at The Acorn Inn. The staff are fantastic,  smiling professionals and nothing is too much trouble. We had dinner there on both nights, great menu with loads to choose from and we weren't disappointed. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, really good coffee, Ernie was treated to a sausage! Overall,  a great place to stay  especially if you have a dog, as the staff treat the dogs as important guests. 
We will definitely visit again.

Wonderful weekend visit

A fabulous birthday dinner for my wife and me. 

We were extended family, four children and six adults, and the Acorn and the lovely staff made it a special occasion for all of us. My Dorset Lamb Chops was excellent, as was the Saddle of Suckling Pig and steak sirloin for the others. A 12 year-old enjoyed the pea and mint soup (a first for her) and her younger cousins the childrens' burger. The desserts were all delightful, as were the staff. 

We were served promptly by friendly and efficient staff in the warm and attractive bar, rather than in the restaurant; it was noisy and welcoming – we felt part of the community and enjoyed the presence of various groups enjoying the atmosphere.

Great food in a delightful environment

Our first visit to The Acorn and we thoroughly enjoyed it. 
The food was excellent and the staff super friendly and  efficient. 
The menu was varied and the wine list and drinks available were very good indeed. 
The whole place is very well presented and we will definitely be back!

Lovely pub with excellent food.

My wife, our friend and I stayed at The Acorn Inn as part of our 3 day hike through Dorset.  The only negative was that we only got to spend one night as we were off early morning to Bridport for the rest of our walk.

My wife and I stayed in the Evershot suite and it was perfect for us (and all our bags!)

Our friend's room was also nice, albeit much smaller than our room.

We also ate both dinner and breakfast there and both were great.

One Night at a Lovely Inn

Had a lovely stay here.  Great service in the bar & restaurant, delicious food and spotlessly clean room.  Sadly this was all very badly let down at checkout, when Sue added an, as yet still unexplained, extra £100 to our bill.
On querying this, we were made wait at reception while a big deal was made of fully checking with the bar and restaurant (who had already accurately recorded everything we'd had) to fully itemise our bill, and eventually issue a refund.
Had this not happened, we would not have left feeling ripped off, not only due to the mysterious addition to our bill, but also as the itemised bill clearly showed that the dinner, bed & breakfast "deal" we'd been talked into made our dinner more expensive than if we'd simply ordered from the menu.

Check your bill!

I love this pub. Whether it's busy or quiet there is a lovely atmosphere. The staff are wonderful and really make the place what it is. Great drinks, with some creative gin and tonic cocktails which we really enjoyed.

Love this pub!

Went recently for Sunday lunch to this lovely historic pub in Thomas Hardy country. Everything was faultless, delicious, flavoursome, friendly. We had calamari, crab pâté, slow-cooked pork, sticky toffee. Great wine list. Highly recommended.

Far from the lunching crowd

This pub offers fantastic hospitality, food and drinks. The standards are very high and the staff are outstanding. We stayed one night in a 4 poster room that was a tad cosy and warm (well there was a heatwave on) but it was spotless. The bed was comfy but just a lot smaller than we’re used to. You have to expect quirks in a building so old. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and service was spot on. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine with dinner and the drinks from the bar were top notch. The bartender was superb. Evershot is a peaceful village in the stunning Dorset countryside. This was our second visit and we’ll be back. Thank you.
