Stay was lovely, bar area was lovely, staff was perfect.Some slight damage to my room door so couldn't shut it without lifting it slightly.Overall though good.

The location close to the A34 allows for easy access to Oxford. The room was large and nicely decorated and furnished. The staff were mostly indifferent and not interested in satisfying their guests' needs. The short stay at the Swan Inn felt awkward and it was not an ideal hotel ambience.

Not the best stay. When we checked in the lady behind the bar was very helpful and gave us lots of information. When we woke up in the morning there was no staff - the doors to the bar/staff areas were all locked so we could only get out of the building via the fire escape. We could not find anyone to ask about paying for our room and had to wait around for almost an hour. Breakfast the next morning was just self serve toast and an apple. No cooked breakfast option and no one to ask about this. By the time we found staff it was time to check out. Room was very hot, and beds were very old and uncomfortable. But must say, toilet areas and sheets appeared clean.

The room was easily accessed from the carpark. Clean and functional

It served a purpose, old but comfortable strange set up with the place not manned in a morning!

Swan Hotel

This is our third visit in under two months! Hubby loves the Sunday roast. He eats everything! He cleared the plate!
I love the honey & mustard roasted parsnips. Nice simple Sunday lunch menu. 
Beautiful pub in quiet village. Very friendly and welcoming.

Not even finished our meal and I'm recommending this place!

What a wonderful place, a real family run pub with rooms to stay. Very dog friendly, excellent food, we have never been so well catered for, if you have any allergy let them know and they will make sure you aren't left out at all.
We stayed with our two dogs and had a great stay. Highly recommended.

Oh dear….What has happened to the Swan at East Ilsley??
We weren’t expected when our party of 8 turned up for Sunday lunch on 23rd July, despite an email confirmation of our reservation. We were however, accommodated. Then we were told that they no longer serve Sunday lunch due to a lack of interest. We were instead furnished with a menu that included a lot of dishes that weren’t available. So we ordered a variety of meals that were available. The food that arrived was quite simply of very poor standard. Bangers and mash turned out to be undercooked anemic looking sausages on watery mash with a mush to the side that was supposed to be red cabbage and the Ham, egg and chips looked like a car crash. We were also told that the cheese board on the menu wasn’t available and then miraculously it was. The exterior of the building and small seating area had long since surrendered to unruly weeds and the place just looks tired. At least the beer was ok.
It’s such a shame because we, as a family, have been meeting up there for years. Covid forced closure and the post Covid management team have simply not come up to scratch. We won’t be going back.

Awfully disappointed

Pleasant people, very welcoming, great food and a nice room 👍 stayed while enroute down south.  The location is perfect right next to the a34, but far enough away to not to have to hear it. Lovely little village too. Would be happy to stay again.

Stop off

This pub is a typical pub with several rooms in a quiet village in the Oxfordshire countryside.  The staff was very helpful and even arranged for a birthday cake for our group.  We joined in on  Quiz night which was fun  The garden was a pleasant place to relax in the afternoon.   Breakfast was a self service buffet.
