The standard  is consistently high thanks to the attention to detail that Roger and Jane bring to the experience. We have stayed here several times in the past and are always assured of a warm welcome and made to feel part of the family. The bedrooms are clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable. Coupled with a breakfast to die for this is a must stay for us whenever we visit this part of Essex!

I first stayed at Puttocks Farm in 2019 and my third visit was in July 2024 for six nights with my husband.  The farm is in a quiet area and only a short drive from the attractive town of Dunmow.  Our room was very comfortable and breakfasts were delicious.  Enjoyed seeing Jane, Roger and the cats!  It is a good base for visiting parts of East Anglia

Our first stay at Puttocks and it was everything we could wish for. Lovely room with really comfortable beds which gave us a great night's sleep.
Jane & Roger are truly friendly and the welcome we received was warm and genuine, a lovely couple.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory attached to the farmhouse, and what a breakfast, superb, cooked to order, piping hot and delicious. Great views from the conservatory across open Essex countryside.
We would highly recommend Puttocks Farm Bed & Breakfast. It was our first visit but, should we visit the area again, this will be our destination of choice.

Peaceful location, comfortable room, everything you need. Delicious home cooked breakfast served in the conservatory so I could  enjoy the beautiful view. A perfect way to start my holiday relaxed as it was so convenient for Stansted Airport. Will use again.

I found this little gem on Tripadvisor when looking for somewhere to stay when attending a wedding at Maiden’s Barn. It is a working farm with converted barn accommodation. Very clean, everything you needed was provided. Lots of tea coffee and biscuits. The bed was huge and comfortable. Absolutely excellent breakfast is served in the farmhouse conservatory where you look out over the fields. Jane is a wonderful hostess. We would definitely stay again.

Brilliant bed and breakfast on a quiet farm and with a nice 25 minute walk into town, Roger and Jane are a very friendly and hospitable couple, and roger is a great cook better than many chefs I know, his poached eggs 🥚 are spot on, the fried breakfast was delicious and very well presented,  also a nice selection of cereals yoghurt toast and jams orange juice and coffee ☕️ rooms are well done clean and warm, clean towels and small selection of toiletries iron ironing board and hairdryer and free WiFi, also phone numbers for takeaway food, I can recommend the Balti Spice in dunmow high street who deliver, and I can thoroughly recommend the puttocks farm, we will visit again 🚜 

Had an overnight stay before flying out from Stansted. 
Great accommodation , very warm , very clean and generally a lovely room ! 
Facilities in the room were great - plenty of hanging space - piping hot water ! 
Breakfast was excellent and our hosts were very friendly!

Recommended and would definitely stay again should they need arise due to an early flight.

Warmest of welcomes . Shepherd hut is secluded for a perfect peaceful night away . Chickens there to greet you. Views are stunning . Hut is equipped with everything you could possibly need and more ! Breakfast was yummy . Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

Absolutely wonderful experience staying in the on-site Shepherd's Hut and loved learning about how it was restored through the little book tucked away in there. Couldn't have asked for more from our hosts, who so generously popped in some treats after I mentioned it was my birthday! The hut is kitted out really well, with lots of cosy features and a lovely warm shower. We were a little worried we'd be cold, staying on a blustery November night, but we were exceptionally toasty and the hut felt very secure. Lovely to wake up and see the beautiful surroundings the next day, and say hello to the nearby hens! A good quality continental breakfast was provided too. We can't wait to come back!

I stayed overnight as had a meeting nearby the following day. I had to change my booking date to the following day and gave them no notice! They kindly offered to move my nights stay for free! Roger was very apologetic they couldn’t make me a breakfast due to prior arrangements and as they done me a HUGE favour this was no issue. Having said that. They still offered me cereal AND brought me 2 delightful bacon rolls and fresh orange juice - yummy! Lovely little room, all modern, everything you need. Very reasonable price and friendly helpful owners. Would HIGHLY recommend! Thank you Jayne and Roger
