I have to stay in Chichester due to work 3/4 times a year and wouldn't go anywhere else! I have stayed in many hotels but this one just has something special. You are always greeted with a smile and a helpful member of staff (Normally lovely Tammy on the front desk!) then when you open the magical doors to your room the worlds biggest and most comfortable bed welcomes you! The spa and gym facilities are excellent and perfect for long stays, The Ship Restaurant and Bar staff are lovely and so accommodating, particularly Ewan who always went out of his way to make my fussy breakfast order perfect. 
Parking on road is nice and easy from 5:30pm-9am and the location is perfect to get in or out of the town quick. 
Eve and Megan made my working dinner alone lovely and friendly and went above and beyond to find me a quiet spot. This is such a must stay for anyone looking for sophisticated, quality and Classy accommodation. 
My absolute favourite part is the complimentary Gin in the room!

Best Hotel in West Sussex!

This hotel is lovely in many ways. The room was well equipped and tastefully decorated with nice little touches, the bed was comfy and it was quiet, got woken up by a pigeon gently cooing outside the slightly open window! The bathroom was quite small but had everything.  The shower gel smelled amazing, I loved the shower but my partner is 6’3 and had to bend his knees as it’s quite low. We had dinner and 2 breakfasts during our stay, all the food was scrumptious and the bar had a good selection of drinks, discovered Mozart chocolate liqueur, that’s a keeper. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. I hope we can come back for another stay soon.

A lovely weekend break

Our room was large, and very comfortable. The bed was excellent, but so high that I could hardly get into it! The staff are all very helpful. Breakfast and Dinner were all wonderful. We were also lucky enough to have good weather. All in all a brilliant weekend stay.

Easter weekend stay

The hotel itself is in a perfect location for where we needed to be. It’s beautifully decorated and the staff are all really lovely and friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. However, the rest was just disappointing.,

Upon first arriving, after travelling all the way from Cornwall, I needed a coffee, so made myself an espresso from the in-room facility. As I quickly drank it,  a large shard of broken glass that had been unnoticed in the bottom of my cup, went in to my mouth. We have no idea where this shard of glass came from and can only imagine what would have happened if I had actually swallowed it. My partner informed reception and the lady didn’t really know what to do but she was kind and polite. In the bar afterwards, we were compensated with a free drink. 

Sleeping in the tiny rooms is impossible. The rooms are lovely in design but everything is just too big for the small rooms they offer. The beds are comfortable but the rooms are just far too hot. They supply large fans for you to use, which did help, but then you have the noise of fan which kept me awake. You can also hear other guests using their fans from the other rooms.

We were right outside the entrance to the 1930s lift which also was very loud. It’s a beautiful old lift but extremely noisy.

Our room was also on the main high street, so we had all the noise from the traffic and people leaving the bars and pubs during the night. (This obviously isn’t the hotels fault, just bad luck on the room location.) 

Then at 9.30am on Easter Sunday, (clocks went forward so body says it’s 8.30am) the maintenance man was banging and hammering something in the next room so loudly, that my partner had to go out and tell him to stop! It really was inappropriate and unacceptable for someone to be doing that at that time of day, not only on a Sunday, but on Easter Sunday. The one day in the whole year, the majority of the country get off to relax. 

We informed the lady at the desk on checkout, who amended our bill for guest courtesy and again was just lovely, polite and professional. 

The location of the hotel is perfect for the town and maybe to go for drinks or dinner, but I wouldn’t return to the hotel to stay overnight. It’s just far too small and hot to sleep and probably the noisiest hotel I’ve had the misfortune to stay in.

Far too hot and noisy!

Unassuming from the outside, this is a nice little gem tucked away at the end of the high street. 

My friends and I were served by Heath at the bar, very friendly and was able to advise  me and my friends on where to visit locally. Also the drinks were great!

The armchairs available make for a more relaxed environment, but was very warm when we were there. Staff were able to turn the temperature down which was great.

Can’t think of anything that wasn’t really good from the moment we arrived until we left five days later. Excellent location and service, with a clean, comfortable room and tasty, well-cooked meals. As for the staff, there was nothing they wouldn’t do to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Huge thanks.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay.

A very pleasant experience. It all worked perfectly for us. This hotel is in an elegant period building in historic Chichester. Just a charming town. We had a lovely room with a very generous bathroom and wonderful walk in shower. I think we have lost interest in climbing into baths to use the shower. The room was nicely fitted out with no evidence of wear and tear. We happened to pick a sweltering September day and night. The sash window opened to a stop and there was a robust and quiet fan that seemed to do its stuff. No aircon, but then I have a wobble about windows that don't open and noisy or useless aircon. That is worse than useless if it is hot. The hotel was very quiet. Breakfast was part of the deal and good. There is adequate parking, keeping in mind this is a town centre site. I didn't mind a tenner for the night. We didn't eat in the restaurant. The website and reviews didn't wow us enough, for whatever reason. Instead, we opted to pop out and sat outside at a pavement restaurant.  I would say this is a good call for a night or two in Chichester. Nice people and good service as well. I don't think the hotel was particularly busy so can't vouch for the experience if it was working at full tilt. We're fans.

A lovely experience in a fine period building in central Chichester

Really disappointed with the spa facilities and overall lack of cleanliness. 

The changing rooms are tiny (can only really fit one person at a time) and filthy (including a very grubby shower that clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time). 

The spa was also grubby, grimey and rusty. It only consists of a jacuzzi (with the least powerful jets ever) and a steam room. Not even a sauna. I had a voucher from my boyfriend for my birthday which entitled me to use the spa facilities between 4-8pm — there's nowhere near enough to do for that time.

The weird thing is I had tried to book earlier this year and they told me I couldn't because the spa was being renovated. They even said "Oooh it'll be lovely when you do come as it'll be newly done." So strange as this spa clearly hasn't been renovated for many years — it's old and grotty. So god knows what the closure was really about.

The only reason it's two stars and not one is that the massage I had was nice and the staff member was very friendly. I'd usually review on Google but I really don't want my boyfriend to see and feel rubbish about it as it was meant to be a special gift. :(


Dirty spa and barely any facilities 

We stayed at this hotel in 2020 for our anniversary and decided to return as we really enjoyed our last stay.

I spoke to Craig when booking and he was very friendly and informative. On arrival, all the staff were very friendly and happy to help with any requests. We had a couple of minor issues with our room but these were swiftly sorted out.
Rooms have all been refurbished in the last couple of years, we were upgraded to a superior room and it was very comfortable. The bed was HUGE and there were all the amenities that we needed. 

We stayed on a Sunday so decided to go for the roast dinner and boy was it good (although the potatoes could have been softer/fluffier). I had the beef and it’s probably the best I’ve had on a meal out. 

Breakfast was just as good with a large selection to choose from.

We loved our stay at the Harbour Hotel and will definitely return in the future!

Romantic anniversary getaway

I have been to the Spa for treatments now a few times and had pedicures with Alice. My nails look amazing and Alice does wonderful work. She is also really lovely to spend time with and is patient and kind.
