We were made so welcome by all the staff.  Accommodation was excellent, food and menu choices brilliant.  Breakfast was the best we have ever had whilst staying away from  home.  Log fires and beams and delicious food and good selection of gins and wines.  We would definitely stay here again in the future.  Service was brilliant from all the staff.  Highly recommended by both of us.

We had the pleasure of eating at the Fox Goes Free last night. It was an absolutely lovely evening. The atmosphere was lovely, service friendly, attentive but relaxed and the food lovely. Good beers, good food and great company. 
Had been a few years since we ate here but we will certainly be returning there again soon.

Lovely dinner at the Fox Goes Free

We had a lovely lunch today seated near the open fire as we requested. The food is always fantastic and beautifully served by very friendly and efficient staff. We having been using The Fox for several years and have never been dissapointed.

Cosy ambience and great food!

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at this pub with rooms. The room was well appointed with a comfortable bed, and the breakfasts were both generous and tasty. We booked dinner in the pub both evenings and enjoyed the restaurant area and the cosier snug by the fire (try the local ales!). A good base for  local walks and visiting the surrounding area, with great service by friendly staff.

We were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our fantastic room. All of the staff were attentive without being over the top, with special mention to both Lauren and Rob. Both the room and the food were just excellent and it was great to feel a very welcoming ambience throughout our stay, many thanks.

4 star Hotel / Pub. WOW! One of the nicest Pubs I’ve been too. About 400 years old. Lovely fire places. We spent the night in room 5. Very nice!!! Cosy & comfortable. Breakfast was included which was so nice! Megan, who assisted us, was a great hostess.
We shared a Camembert which was so delicious & the bread that came with it was plentiful & delicious. The Pub was full so it’s obviously very popular. Will def go back for another meal sometime!

What an amazing Pub! A hidden gem!

It was Christmas Eve so the team were very busy. Gemma managed to serve us with a smile and made time for a festive chat. My daughter said that she made the experience joyful! The room was filled with beautiful decorations which made it festive and warm.

Christian the landlord is truly THE most helpful & welcoming guy in the world - as are all of his very competent & super polite staff. 👍
No less than 3 roaring open log fires, exemplary  food & drinks & all @ exceptionally good prices. 
We were even allowed to stay in the car park over night in our campervan. TOP MARKS ALL ROUND!🍻

Probably The Best pub in the world!

Absolutely to be recommended from the feel of it and the look. The food was excellent and the menu varied.  Friendly staff and extremely dog friendly.  All set in this beautiful setting we went back the next day for more the daily specials were very good

A must

Friends took us out for a Sunday lunch. We were seated in a dimly lit corner, the room was very busy and very noisy. We all ordered our drinks and the roast of the day. When my meal arrived the Yorkshire pudding was black on the outside and tasteless inside. The plate was cold which made the overcooked sirloin beef cold, the roast potatoes had skins like leather, the selection of lukewarm vegetables consisted of white and red cabbage and not much else and the gravy had no flavour at all. When the young waiter collected my half eaten plate of food I complained that it was mostly cold, but he just ignored me. Behind us was a table of six who’s voices got louder and louder. We were given the dessert menu but I just wanted to get out as fast as possible, so we quickly paid and left.
