Stayed here for 3 nights on a work trip. Couldn’t recommend more! The host was more than accommodating, spotless rooms and great facilities. Only a short walk into the main town of Banbury. Would highly recommend the breakfast! All round 10/10

Best B&B in Banbury

Perfect getaway, from a short walk into the town centre and easy driving into the Cotswolds.
Was greeted warmly by the receptionist and given the details i needed for my stay.
The Housekeeping staff came into my room daily and made my bed and topped up supplies ie tea, coffee etc.
I enjoyed breakfast for a couple of the mornings of my stay, the Full English is a must, good quality bacon & sausages.
Give it a try if staying in Banbury.

Perfect getaway.

This was a lovely period guesthouse and place to stay if you’re ever in Banbury. It’s close to town centre and has all you’ll need, whilst visiting. Debby, the host, is very accommodating and welcoming. Hopefully, if I’m that way again… I’ll stay with you next time I visit.. Thank you

Lovely stay whilst in Banbury….

Arranged via email to check in early but when I arrived , I was told over intercom that they knew nothing about it and no one was on premises until 4pm. I waited til 4pm and again told they knew nothing about my request. 
Apart from the above, my stay was lovely. Room 10, overlooking front of house. No road noise, very comfy bed (but duvet was a bit small) . Room, bedding and bathroom were spotless, nicely decorated and coordinated. 
I didnt have breakfast there, I thought £12.95 was too much for what was on offer. 
My only moan is very late check in and very early check out times.
Communication could be better. 

Room 10.

We stayed here for two nights and the host was ever so friendly and polite and was the assistant sorry but we have forgotten there names but run by two lovely ladies, if I was to have a whinge it would have to be the times of the hotel I.E check in 4pm and checkout 10am very late in the day and very early in the morning the other gripe is the beds weren’t that very comfy and the floor was very uneven we would have appreciated a king size bed or a queen but not sure this was an option but made do with a small double which I suppose made it uncomfortable, we also found the steps leading to the main entrance were very tricky and steep to negotiate has there is no handrails either side which if it was icy would be impossible to climb.

Average Stay

Stayed a couple of nights here, bed and breakfast without breakfast. Note that it says free breakfast on the TA main page. Breakfast wasn't available on the first morning anyway, staff issue I believe.

Nice enough place, we were told the heating comes on at 5 or 5.30 I can't remember but we said we were okay but when we sat in the lounge later I wished we'd asked for it to be on, I couldn't see a heating appliance or thermostat.

Free car parking at the back and handy for the centre of Banbury.

Booking here was really confusing. Mixed messages re availability and room sizes. Seemed able to book(single -Double and family) through companies, but not by direct call to Hotel. I was informed there was no single available, ( there was through Booking. Com @ £80)  When I tried to book direct with the hotel -No Room. Only a double which had mysteriously  jumped from £95 to £110 . I booked the £80 online. I was told my double,  had 2 windows which fully opened overlooking garden. Nope, 1 window, not looking over the garden, which strangely had been closed when we got back from our evening out. Rooms small but adequate and extremely clean. Comfortable beds.  Breakfast was a disappointment  for £12.95 extra. I won’t go into detail. All in all a lovely house,  that has been special, but now lacked a feeling of warmth that you get from a true caring hotelier. I would not visit again.

Lacks Love. 

The positive side to this trip was the room was an average size, it was very clean and comfortable, the bed wasn't rock hard and it had a pretty good walk-in shower.
It's also literally is a 2 minute walk from Carpark 3, 4 & 5 in the Horton General Hospital.

The downside and there are a lot and the reason why I gave it a 1-star rating are:

Breakfast costs £25 for 2 people. That's £12.50 each. Ours cost less in Tesco Extra, a 2 minute journey by car, down the road in Banbury.

The Receptionist on the phone was very rude and threatened me with the Police before even getting there. She was Catastrophising and projecting what could happen.
My partner is 6ft 5", I specifically booked a standard double bedroom to accommodate his height regarding the bed, but when I gave them a courtesy call before we left to say our time of arrival, I mentioned this and I said I couldn't say if he would kick the bottom footboard off in his sleep hence why I had asked for that specific type of room with no footboard in the pictures to be seen. I also mentioned he was Autistic, which also sent her into a spin. I didn't tell them in advance? - No! I shouldn't have to.

The Receptionist/another person on the other end, quizzed me on it, in the end, she said we'd have to pay for a new bed if he broke the footboard off in his sleep. She then said, we will have to get the Police out and started ranting  down the phone at me. She was very emotional about it and had a deep female gravel like voice, not like the proprietor. I can only believe she wasn't the Proprietor, just a member of staff. We went through several options and one of them was, don't bring my 6ft 5" partner and it would resolve the problem. My hospital appointment required a companion, because I knew it was going to be tough. I said to her, exasperated at what I heard, that wasn't an option. 

I've NeVeR heard anything like it in my life?! What kind of Customer service is this, and the reputation she'd just broken to several other people, made me think. Is she for real?! I tried afterwards to get hold of Agoda. Don't bother going with them, English speaking is foreign language and not understandable.

As a Customer this experience just about threw me off course. I'd booked a double room with a double bed, the pictures I'd looked through for the standard double room was adequate for what I wanted, I only mentioned it when i phoned to just let them know we'd be a bit late. I didn't expect the barage of abuse and the fact, we don't have that room and all our rooms are allocated out. We only have a twin room with footboards on and maybe a double bed, but that has a footboard too, but you will be getting the twin room because we don't have the double room... *and hang on?!  I was calling at least 4 hrs before they took in the next set of new customers. Allocated or not, you'd think they could accomodate if they'd overlooked the order arrangements in the first place? Coordinating can be hard for some.

 The end result of this conversation, I had to bring it under control. I said we hadn't got there yet! So, I'd booked the room, paid in advance, they weren't prepared to refund the room because they couldn't provide what I'd ordered, so we will be there at the time I stipulated, and you will provide us with a bed that I ordered, and if not, you will give us a refund, because you can't provide what I'd ordered, and it's not my problem you can't find a bed that I ordered! So, get over yourself and get it fixed!?...Not My problem!
There was more to this scenario than I've written here, but it could sound like a book on war and peace.

We arrived the proprietor was very pleasant, she knew about the issues and said she'd moved some people around and had a cancellation to accomodate our room we'd booked. Can you believe it?!

Do I believe that story? It's really hard to believe after that conversation earlier in the day. However it was irrelevant, she could have apologised for the way we were treated on the phone, and just shown us to the room, (she didn't offer an apology for the bad customer service) by stating we have the room available that you booked. This would've been more professional and not left us questioning the explanation she gave us in the first place?

A  few tips for anyone using Guest houses, they are not hotels. The service level isn't professionally high as you get in a hotel. The standards can be lower than some of the good hotels. As this one proved to be. The HouseKeeping standard of the rooms were excellent. Its a shame they fell down on their Customer service. You wouldn't get this in a hotel. 

I should've asked to speak to a manager, which I didn't at the time. My downfall on my behalf.
I am a highly qualified Customer service advisor, with an excellent service record, this  experience doesn't even come close  from both people I spoke to from Easington House in Banbury.

The free parking behind the hotel is limited, if you get there to park and someone's got a camper van or a longer car, you won't get in if the carpark if it's semi full. 
(went out for a takeaway and got back, but couldn't park in the carpark, cars everywhere, so the kindly neighbour to the hotel, let my partner park in their private car park)
Delivery take outs are excepted at this place for evening meals, etc.

The front desk isn't manned at all, there is no bell to ring to get attention either. The doorbell will get answered if you're outside, you can't get in otherwise.

The hotel isn't Autistic friendly. We were put into a room that backed out onto the Army cadet  barracks, listening to shouting army marching orders all evening isn't relaxing and for Autistic people, its too loud and puts them on edge. *for us it was a one nighter, we put up with it.

The hotel room was very quiet in the night, couldn't hear the cars on the main road at anytime of our stay. We overlooked the back drive, where the carpark and army campsite is.

No aircon in the rooms and no Fan available. The windows open fully on both sides and at the top, That's it for aircon. In this heatwave it is extremely suffocating in the room, we had room 5. Avoid it if you have a noise allergy. 

There is a file of terms and extras in the room to read, my partner picked it up and read it through. I can't comment I didn't look at it. The information for the Wifi is in the file.

Some parts of the guest house, does have some wifi issues, its an old building and some of the walls are 2.5ft thick. The internet isn't particulary fast, but it was adequate to watch Netflix on our computer we had with us,  after 
11pm.

You can book breakfast when you arrive at the guest house, no need to book when you book the room. If you book it online, be prepared to find different offers and make sure the breakfast is included in the price? If it doesn't state its in the price, then you pay more when you get there.
Equally as good, if you don't mind a 2-3 minute travel by car or a walk into the town centre of about 5 - 10 minutes, there are plenty of eateries there, offering breakfast and pubs galore. Tesco Extra a 5 minute journey away by car had an excellent cooked breakfast with Toast at £5.25 each

I wouldn't recommend Agoda, they were the cheapest but for when things go wrong, they are dreadful to get hold of and their English speaking agents are very difficult to understand.

Eating out is an expensive trip in Banbury, being upmarket the cheapest meals are mainstream, McDonalds, KFC, Dominoes. The rest are quite pricey. Get some idea of where you plan to eat before you go, or you could end up paying £££ instead of £-££ in price. There were plenty of Restaurants and pubs that offered £££ prices. You also can mise over a plethora of places to visit, and end up not going anywhere because you have run out of time.

Bad experience from the start.

Great accommodation. Debs was a great host. Was very disappointed that breakfast was not included. The cost was astronomical per couple but found great cafe locally Regs cafe give it a go. Rooms were nice and comfortable.

Great accommodation 

We have stayed at The Easington quite a few times now and its always a great place to stay. Debbie and staff are a dedicated team. Nothing is too much trouble. Debbie greeted us at the front desk and made sure everything was in order. The rooms are very comfortable, spotlessly clean. lovely gardens to relax in. Breakfast was feshly cooked, plenty of tea and coffee. The hotel is in a good position for visiting Banbury. 
One again, A Big Thank you . Enjoyed chatting with Debbie and hopefully we will be back again before too long
