We stayed at Dale End Barn to celebrate a 40th birthday with friends. The facilities are excellent. There are 4 large en-suite bedroom with 2 that can be used as either twin or king configuration. The communal area is also excellent with a large kitchen and big lounge / diner that can suitably accommodate all guests. The area is lovely and peaceful but has easy walking access to Youlgreave which has a selection of pubs and a local shop. Excellent hosts who were available for questions and recommendations throughout our stay. Possibly one of the best accommodations of this type we have stayed in.

Perfect weekend with friends

This is a top-end converted barn in the heart of the White Peak with four large en-suite bedrooms and a huge diner-kitchen-sitting room. What's not to like?

The standard of facilities is very good, there's plenty of kit for cooking and a big (range style) induction cooker. Three big sofas and a massive dining table. We had two parents and three children with partners and I would say that the accommodation was ideal for socialising but allowing people to slip away for 'me time' when required.

Hosts were attentive at the outset and then let us get on with it. Its an easy walk over to Lathkilldale, which is a gorgeous limestone valley, and not too far to walk into Youlgrave - or an easy 5 minute drive. It's about 12 minutes to the Druid Inn at Birchover if you want a classy cooked meal in a lovely pub.

Perfect for a family get-together

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in the barn as bed and breakfast guests of Paul and Sarah . The surroundings are idyllic and peaceful ,even Percy the peacock was well behaved ! Paul and Sarah were perfect hosts and as well as providing a good breakfast are really useful in giving guidance and advice on places to eat and walks in the area

Midweek break

We spent our 14th wedding anniversary here and had the lodge house.
Nice spot ...very clean and self contained space. Well appointed and ideal for a short break or getaway.Farmyard animals close by made the 'experience' real and interesting.  Quite a remote setting, so need to like walking or be prepared to drive around.


Private lodge room on a small farm

We stayed in The Lodge for our wedding anniversary weekend. The location is remote but beautiful and the Lodge was the perfect accommodation. We did opt for self catering rather than B&B but thought our hosts would at least be there to greet us or come and check all ok. No sign of them!! I had email communication to organise the booking, and did have to chase a couple of times. Whole thing seemed a bit lacking in the customer service stakes.  We had a lovely time in the Peaks regardless

Go away with 2 other couples May time every year. It was our turn to choose the 3 night break this time & we could not have chosen better.  Booked the barn which can accommodate 8 people in total but with last emergencies a son of one of the other couples joined us & we took Nando our son's Shar Pei at the last minute.

Sarah & Paul are wonderful hosts with nothing too much trouble. The Barn facilities are first rate; bedrooms, showers & dining room/lounge. Sarah put on a top class breakfast each morning (with Paul's help) & we enjoyed the chats with her about winning 4 in a bed last year.

The location is fairly isolated in Gratton Dale but this is part of the attraction. We sat outside after breakfast on the patio  & enjoyed the surrounding views & sunshine on a couple of mornings before driving to Buxton & Denby Pottery Village.

The farm yard animals; the two micro pigs, male & female peacocks, ducks & a variety of chickens added to the charm. Sarah's poached eggs were spot on (I deliberately set  a challenge here).  

Can highly recommend the place & we will be looking to return before the end of the year (if there is still availability of course).
