We visited Tweedies pub in Grasmere on the 2nd December 2023. We arrived as a party of twelve and were greeted by a happy set of staff. After we ordered, our food was served in a very quick and efficient manner. The starters were amazing. After a short spell the main dishes were brought out. These were just as good if not better than the starters. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff even when we surprised them with a birthday cake to be brought out. Absolutely fantastic experience.  Well done all the staff at Tweedies, and thank you again for making it such a special night for us all. 

Excellent eating night out at Tweedies

This is a family-run hotel and the staff could not have been more helpful during our 3 day stay in their hotel. We will definitely be using them again on our ext trip to the Lake District. The bed was very comfy, great pillows and the breakfast selection was the best we have seen. 

Friendly, comfortable hotel with lots of charm

Shocking service, awful room. Being a partner of the Inn, and having stayed there many times we decided to give Tweedies a go. Booked in for 2 nights, left after the first night and won't ever return! 
No-one on reception on arrival,  collected keys that were in an envelope with our name and room number on next to other envelopes with names and room numbers. Anyone could have collected the keys. 
Bat staff were rude and despite only 4 couples at breakfast the service was shocking. Had to wait an hour for hot food.
We were asked if we had stayed before and we said no. We were told we could help ourselves to continental breakfast through there, and the server pointed to a door. 

Awful

We booked the Mews ‘Suite’ for a relaxing Lake District break and we were very disappointed. 

The room was dirty, dated, old, and poorly maintained. 

Walking through the weed & moss covered courtyard, you’re presented with a rickety, old cladded building. Walking in, you’re struck by a strong foisty smell accompanied by flooring held together with gaffer tape, blinds peppered with bite marks, cobwebs, damaged furnishings, and mouldy / unpainted walls. 

Don’t forget to enjoy waking up with a fresh aching pain in your back thanks to the creaking solid mass of a ‘bed’ available on the mezzanine floor.

We’ll let the photos speak for themselves. 

Outside of the room’s delights, Tweedies redeems itself as much as it can with excellent staff and delicious food. 

The rooms inside the main building are apparently much nicer, and the website photos would suggest so too… 

We won’t be back to stay. 
Do not waste your money by picking a ‘Mews’ room - unless your expectations are very low.

Disgusting Room, Lovely Food, Great Staff

Not sure why the negative reviews, perfectly good hotel.
We stopped for a 2 night stay, it was a very comfortable stay with a good breakfast each morning. We also ate in the bar which was very nice and good quality. The staff were friendly and attentive. Grasmere is a delightful place to stay very pretty village.
Please don't be put off by negative reviews. 

Very nice stay

We stopped here for some food and had the very best Sunday lunch we've ever ever had. I've had to come straight on Tripadvisor to leave this review before we've even left the pub because it was so excellent!

Great, cosy venue. Great ground space and plenty of outside seating for those Spring & summer afternoons in the beer garden!

Best pub Sunday roast of all time!

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here last weekend.  There was a mix up with the booking times but this didn't cause a problem and the staff were very accommodating.  This was the best Sunday lunch out we've had for a long time. Fabulous meat, fresh 'proper' veg and the best yorkies.  Excellent table service for drinks.  Good price for the area.  Really recommend.  Great accessibility for those who need flat access

Best Sunday Lunch for a long time

My wife and I returned for a one night stay at Tweedies for a Friday evening in late November.
As we arrived late and had eaten early in the day we did not have an evening meal. 
The reception is not permanently staffed but a phone call to the bar area is answered promptly and we are quickly shown to our room on the first floor.
The room was bright, clean and warm with plenty of storage if needed.
For walkers, there is a tray provided for dirty boots.
The en-suite bathroom was clean and had plenty of soaps, shampoo and conditioner.
The bed was large and comfortable.
The hotel has plenty of parking spaces and is in the centre of Grasmere close to many restaurant, coffee shops ( Heidi’s round the corner from Tweedies is very good) and other hotels.
The hotel is set in extensive grounds and is landscaped in an attractive eco friendly way - many rotting stumps and plenty of native ferns and fungae.
We did not have a drink in the pub as there was an England World Cup game on and there was “ no room at the Inn” to quote a phrase. ( England drewwith the USA - a painful performance!).
Breakfast is served in a bright, airy room and, as always, they were excellent: I had the full English and my wife had scrambled eggs on toast. There were plenty of cereals, yoghurts  etc on offer too.
Downstairs there is a welcoming lounge area with real log fire and plentiful seating. 
Tweedies is well worth a visit.

Great location and grounds, with warm, clean rooms, excellent breakfast and ample parking. Dog friendly.

Entered the bar area after a lovely day walking up in the fells. All was well to start with paying cash for a drink for my partner and I and then when we tried to buy another drink… a young and very obnoxious man shouted at us that it’s card only. I did then make this gentleman very aware that we had only just paid cash so we were extremely confused.. paid by card but then still getting shouted at. All this is completely fine but then belittling us and swearing at us is just too far. 

Had no choice but to ask for the manager who quite clearly couldn’t give a dam. 

We have been coming to the lakes for over 15 years and in all of that time, never been spoken to like that. 

Sorry but it’s a big no from me. 

Shocking 

We stayed in the Mews suites- 2 storey mini cottage, perfect for us with dogs as own outside door and very quiet location. The decor does need a tiny bit of TLC but if you can see past that, they are superb. Very clean, lovely fluffy white towels & robes, crisp bedding and a great hospitality tray. 
We ate in the bar/restaurant the first evening, great atmosphere, very warm, food spot on and the service by the guys on duty was excellent. 
Breakfast room is stunning, such a lovely room. Plenty of juices, yoghurts, fruits, cereals and pastries and hot food to order. Lovely food and super service. 
We did the winter special 2 night break, great value for money and can highly recommend. 
The hotel & bar is right in the centre of Grasmere with plenty of parking, lovely grounds. 
The hotel is very well run, super location and we would definitely return.
