My wife Rose and I stayed at Vienna Hotel in 
Deira area of Dubai from 30 December 2017 to 5 
January 2018. We stayed in Room 310. The 
following is the list of shortcomings  we 
noted during our stay.1. Housekeeping was very 
poor  -- the staff responsible have to be 
begged to make-up the room. In most instances, 
bed sheets and  toilet paper were in short 
supply and we had to literally beg for them. 
The housekeeping staff were literally rude  -- 
each time the Manager had to beg them to do 
their ordinary work, like making the beds of 
bring toilet supplies
2. The  Managers were racists  --- seeing 
Africans as nothing and yet 95% of the 
occupants during our stay there were Africans. 
For instance, the manager refused to send a  
porter to carry our luggage from our room 
located in the 3rd floor. We had to carry the 
luggage ourselves.  In another case we 
requested to access the store, where we had 
our goods to enable us to pack them but were 
reluctant to assist, even to carry the goods 
to the ground floor at the reception area.3. 
The booking covers bed and breakfast  -- but 
the content of the menu was very poor  -- 1 
banana, 2 eggs, 2 slices of bread + butter and 
tea/coffee. Much as that could be seen as the 
norm for  hotels of such class, the time for 
breakfast was strictly between 8:00 and 10:00 
AM and there was no room service, even if 
someone was sick!. The staff at the restaurant 
were also rude  -- despite the fact that they 
were Africans, who were supposed to treat 
their fellow Africans better.
To sum up, it literally shows that  the 
management and staff at that hotel  -- who are 
all  Indians ( except for the restaurant 
staff), were merely tolerating the Africans, 
who happen to be the only group frequenting 
the premises  -- may be because they do not 
know any other hotel at that rate and they 
usually stay for short periods. They hate 
Africans and that the only explanations I can 
give. I have traveled widely -- to virtually 
all the continents  -- USA, UK, Germany, 
Brazil,South Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore 
and most African countries, but have never 
been treated the way it was at Vienna Hotel  -
- very disgusting!  I do hope the Government 
of Dubai will look into this issue critically, 
because it is tarnishing the good image of the 
city and this may not be the only case!  The 
last thing one wants to see and feel is to be 
discriminated due to the colour of his/her 
skin!!
