Nice and convienient  place , just beside Medan . Small hotel but clean and safe.

Great staff, great location in the center

We enjoyed our stay. Reception staff were very helpful. Rooms look like they have been recently refurbished.

Hotel’s location with a given price is the reason we have chosen it. Other than that room wasn’t clean at all and breakfast wasn’t satisfying. Heating was alright and even it located in the city center it was peaceful to have some rest

Just location and a price

The hotel is located 1 minutes walk from the Meydan "park" and is close to the Airport dolmus, other dolmus'es (to Boztepe & other places) and also in walking distance from/to Trabzon museum.
There are hotels on every corner near by and we had booked another one,- but we visited the Terrace Cafe and checked room/price.
The standard was higher than the one we had picked so we changed hotel.

The first night we had a rather small room facing the street and the mosque (which is fairly close). - We could hear the morning call very well here.
Fortunately we got a change of room the next day - this time to a bigger room facing towards the Black Sea. On this side we heard some song/music till late 1-2 nights.

The owners claim the rooms have been renovated but the standard was just OK, not more.
We found the staff to be helpful, although not much englishspeaking.
The reception was 24 hrs and the receptionists spoke some english.

The breakfast was buffet-type served in the Terrace Cafe. One of the waiters there was excellent and helpful,- even though he did not speak english, he mmost of the time understood what we wanted and was very attentative.

They also served beer there and if you wanted wine they brought it within 5 minutes.
One evening we also bought Take-Away near by and had the meal at the roof cafe.

The rooms were kept clean every day. The TV we did not switch on at all. The WiFi was free but a bit slow. The showers had hot water all the time.
We had larger space around the toilet in our small room than the large room (quite narrow space there).

The room price was very good compared to many other hotels near by.

A hotel with 24 rooms & Terrace Cafe with view over Meydan

Lobby is very smart but the rooms less so. Reception fine but no English from anyone I saw. Very glad to have basic Turkish. Booking by email efficient though price quoted was10 ytl above rates on board! Breakfast tolerable, standard Turkish, nescafe, bread and boiled eggs both fresh.
View of maydan means you also have muezzin at daybreak from Iskander pasa camii!
Close to dolmusler on se corner of alani which is handy for boztepe or aghia sofia.
TV selection is bad, even for turkey.

Excellent location

Kalfa is a great value and was perfect for a solo traveler.  The location is excellent, just a short taxi ride from the airport. There are also great views from the rooftop terrace; overlooks Trabzon's main square on one side and the Black Sea on the other. Rooms are small, but more than enough for one person. Room was clean and Wifi was available.

Great Value for Solo Traveler

Good value for money.  Very central location (at Ataturk Alani, you can't get any more central).  Single rooms are quite small, but not much smaller than in comparable (and more expensive) hotels in the city centre (like Horron Hotel).  Receptionist Yasar speaks excellent English and is extremely helpful (I was silly enough to try to travel without reservation during a major holiday; Yasar called all the bus companies in town to get me the last remaining seat).  Restaurant/bar/breakfast room at the roof with great views of the city.
