We booked a family vacation to Turkey and decided to extend our holiday and book a hotel closer to the Airport for our final few days, we stumbled across Yalicapkini and due to the great value rates and reviews we picked this one.
 We arrived around 2pm and were greeted by Ilyas although his English wasn’t great he made us feel very welcome and the hotel was stunning.
 We were shown to our rooms and couldn’t believe how lucky we were to have found such an amazing hotel for the price we had paid, the views from the suite on the top floor we had booked were breathtaking and the room was spotless.
 After unpacking we went down for a drink by the pool and were greeted by Ilker who couldn’t of made us feel more welcome.
Ilker made us feel like family and his English was great, throughout our stay Ilker went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed and couldn’t do enough for us.
 After working in hospitality for over 20 years I can honestly say Ilker was one of the best hosts I have encountered and Is an asset to this business.
 We really wish we could have spent more time here as this hotel truly is a hidden gem.
 We have booked this hotel again for August and can’t wait to go back, I cannot recommend the suite on the top floor enough for the views of the bay they are truly breathtaking.
 We can’t wait to return as the team really do treat you like family, keep up the great work guys.

Hidden Gem 

My wife and I stayed one night here on May 4, 2022. Weloved this place. The staff was very efficient and helpful. We had the best breakfast to date since April 1st, traveling thru Israel and Egypt. This was our first Turkish breakfast and we were blown away. It's decorations throughout the hotel are unique and charming. Naval paraphernalia seemed to be a favorite. It's a lot bigger than we first thought when we got out of our car - several levels and a very beautiful setting -- basically a large and shallow bay. The Mediterranean Sea is just visible from the hotel balconies.

Great breakfast!

Stayed here for 2 weeks with work. Beautiful hotel over looking the lakes, met on arrival by a lovely gentleman named mustfa. Friendly helpful, and who was consistent throughout the week, quiet location 20 mins from airport, cost us about 80 lira. Highly recommend this hotel, local shop 10 min walk, rooms clean and tidy with beautiful views over the lake, rooms cleaned daily, bfast everyday was lovely, with local produce. Swimming pool was very nice and spent the day on the loungers in the sun. Could have easily spent another week here, and looking forward to going back. 

2 week visit 

I'd highly recommend this hotel. Due to a delayed flight, we arrived it 1.30am. The staff were very helpful, considering the hour. They even helped us track down our hire car the next day, which hadn't been at the airport as promised.
  The rooms are lovely and airy, with views to die for and good sized balconies to enjoy it from. The grounds of the hotel are very pretty, working down to a little beach area and jetty. The view across the water to the unspoilt wooded hills is beautiful. Watching fish jumping in the water early in the morning was fascinating.
  It seems largely family run and staff couldn't be more helpful. I would recommend a visit to anyone.

Wonderfully relaxing

We went there for breakfast just as a treat as a family of four. Breakfast was pricey but what you got for it was an absolute joke. Ingredients were not very good quality and the eggs comes with breakfast cane very late, whites uncooked. Could t eat most of it. Serbis’e is very slow and they even failed to bring the teas we ordered. And told us @11 am that the breakfast Serbis’e is joe stopped now and the drinks now will be charged! We’ve been going to this place in the last four years but it’s now in not very good hands and we are all disappointed with the service and the food.

I’ve read the earlier reviews and was really happy with my choice. The hotel was excellent, the service was great and the whole experience was superb. I will make a point of going back. 

The village hosts five restaurants; we visited each one. While all were good, Bargilya  and Mandalya were the best but all were very good.

Super little hotel just 15km from Bodrum Airport but appears miles from anywhere; beautiful views, birds, cockerels, fresh food, no aircraft and friendly staff. Clean and quirky room and communal areas, nice pool, riverside charm with lots of sun beds

Little Oasis of Tranquility and Comfort

I'm writing this review from the pool of our previous hotel after my fiancee and I experienced what can only be described as a disastrous and frankly traumatic stay of only 6 hours at Yalicapkini Boutique Hotel. 

In short this hotel may as well be closed, and the poor poor gentlemen who are attempting to run it are as much victims as we are in this sorry state of affairs. 

We paid about £285 for a three night stay starting yesterday until Thursday. Upon arrival the reception desk was unmanned, though there was loud club music on downstairs. We rang the bell and were greeted by a gentleman who checked us in and took us up to our room. The room itself appeared initially clean, if a little tired around the edges, but the bed was well presented and of a good size, with a spacious bathroom. 

My partner and I found it a little unusual to come to a hotel that aims toward a romantic experience in a tranquil setting only to be greeted by loud club music, but nonetheless went downstairs to look around. 

Walking around the grounds we saw a group of four Turkish guests by the pool but otherwise the hotel was devoid of customers and staff. We looked further around the grounds and were shocked with what we found. 

There was building work being carried out on rooms near the beach area; with tables and chairs being spray painted by the shoreline. There was overstay on the shore, paint tubs, tarpaulins and an air compressor as well as rubbish strewn around. 

The beach area was full of bottle tops and cat poo, along with half an oil drum which looked like it was used for fires. The sun loungers had no cushions as they had been put into bin bags instead. 

The garden area seating had leaks from the ceiling that had left green slime stains on the floor, and the bar and cellar restaurant were also unmanned. Coffee cups and dirty towels were left out as well. 

My partner and I decided to enquire about dinner but couldn't find staff to ask. When we did find someone we were told an extensive list of items we could have for dinner, and the staff member agreed to turn the music off that was playing, and apologised, explaining that the Turkish guests had requested it. 

We decided to relax in our room for a while while my partner took a shower. She ran the water and it smelled of rotten eggs for a good ten minutes and stank the room out. I told her not to use the shower for fear of legionnaires being present in the pipes. 

After this we went for a swim in the pool. By this time we had been at the hotel for four hours and had not been asked if we wanted anything to drink or eat. There were two Turkish women milling about who we eventually worked out were employed at the hotel, but they had no uniforms and were dressed in Nike sportswear instead. 

The pool was cold but pleasant enough, and watching the swallows and other birds dipping in and out of the pool was lovely, along with the fantastic view from the pool area. 

At about 7.30 we went downstairs to try and find someone to prepare us some food. I spent half an hour walking around the hotel before I could find anyone. All the lights were off in the hotel, it felt like a ghost ship. Eventually I found a lady in the kitchen area smoking a cigarette, who turned out to be the cook. 

I asked her if I could speak to the manager and she duly fetched the gentleman who had initially checked us in. His shirt was covered in stains from gardening and cleaning. I asked him if there was any food as the promised coffee and tea reception hadn't happened. The extensive list of food he told me of had now shrunk to bream, chicken legs or meatballs. 

I told him to fetch the manager and he took me upstairs to reception whereupon he woke up a colleague that spoke better English to speak to me. 

The gentleman he woke up was extremely polite, and I explained to him that we we were very concerned about the hotel. I showed him photos of the stains in our room, the mess around the grounds and the open split wiring on the hairdryer my fiancé almost used and asked him to explain what was going on. 

Eventually the penny dropped when the staff member apologised profusely and explained that there was no hotel manager, and had not been for a long time. He explained that there was only an owner and he was in Istanbul, and they had no way of contacting him. He also said there was no chef, bar staff or gardeners, and that he and his colleague had effectively been left to run the hotel alone, doing every job themselves on rotation. 

He apologized for the cook smoking in the kitchen, and said it wasn't the first time people had complained about her doing so but that she wouldn't listen to him as he want a manager. He effectively poured his heart out to us and was clearly extremely embarrassed and ashamed of the state of the situation. 

I took the opportunity to record our entire conversation on video, as well as take extensive video and photographic evidence of the state of the grounds. 

We decided to check out inside 6 hours and head back to our previous hotel in Bodrum, which was fantastic. After booking this Hotel through TripAdvisor I was hoping it would live up to its reputation, especially as this is our ten year anniversary and we were hoping for a romantic escape together at Yalicapkini. 

As it is we were left disappointed and very upset at the poor treatment of the staff and customers. Ultimately the owner should be ashamed and take responsibility for his hotel and either close it or run it properly. I have contacted Tingo Travel who fulfilled the booking on Tripadvisors behalf for a full refund and the £40 cost of our transfers there and back. If anyone responsible has a shred of decency this will be the minimum we receive as reparations for our experience. 

I would question paying £30 a night at Yalicapkini, let alone £100 a night. I can only surmise that either:

A. The reviews above are all fake. 
B. The people doing the reviews have incredibly low standards. 
C. Yalicapkini used to be way way cheaper, or 
D. The hotel has fallen off a cliff edge in the last 6 months. 

Either way do not stay here until the hotels problems have been resolved. It is a shame as the hotel has the potential to be magnificent, and clearly used to be good once upon a time, but as it stands it should be de-listed from all the major holiday vendors as it is simply not a Functioning hotel. 

I will be sending all my evidence to TripAdvisor and Tingo and hope that they have the good grace to return our money. You have been warned.

Not a Functioning Hotel

We just stopped on the way for a coffee break and fell in love both the place and the hotel. Very nice staff. The decoration is cute. Very silent and peaceful. We had delicious Turkish coffee on the terrace with perfect view. We lernt that in October it is a a stop station for birds. 

Awesome view 

This hotel and restuarant is a great place to chill out and eat great food.  Well priced and very enjoyable, will be back again very soon. A must visit and well worth it.  Well worth 5 stars in my opinion.
