We booked a room for 59$ via booking
And we arrived they gave us a room with is not matched at all to the photo the room has no wifi there is no hot water in the shower and basicly the bed is a matris on the floor, with no window. 
When we came to cancel the booking the manger refused and shouted at us
That is not the room we thought we would have. 
we recommend you stay as far as you can from this hotel.

A horrible stay

The room was very simple with no windows, but comfortable enough for 2 days. The air conditioning was ok, but since our room had an elevated part where the large bed and the bathroom was, only the lower part was cool. We loved this as we could sleep with the air conditioning on without catching a cold :) The place is only 20m away from the Old Street in Jiufen and from the top it has a great view.If you are coming with taxi or bus, you should get off near Family Mart, as the top (4F) entrance is there. Cars cannot access the 1F entrance and the bus stop is quite far from there. The people (and the owner?) are very nice and helpful, we had no problem at all.Also, if you want to go Houtong (cat village) or Shifen (you can have your on lantern and make it fly to the skies), of Fulong (closest beach) just take the bus after the 7Eleven for 15 dollars to Ruifang then walk 100m to the train station ;)

Perfect weekend at the hills.

I identified this place after much research on different portals. First the plus points:
Easily located and close to the entrance of Jiufen
Close to the parking
Big Rooms

The Rest
There is no lift here, so either pack lightly or ensure you get rooms at the lower level.
All rooms do not have fabulous views as written by many. Mine overlooked a mass of wires with the ocean in the far distant.
My friends got a window-less room with just a "window" painted on the wall. So, if you are particular about it, please confirm type of room before booking.
The sleeping area in my room was reached by a short flight of steps with a low ceiling above and the toilet below. Can be inconvenient if you need to use it in the middle of the night; to remember to duck low before using the stairs:)
Breakfast was simple: a ham cheese sandwich with coffee.

The hosts are warm and eagerly showed us his "treasures". 
Nice place only if my expectations were not so high

A little Strange but good location

Jiufen is built around a hilly terrain. So finding an accomodation in the right location is a strategic move. After much research we finally found this place. 

LOCATION: Get down at the Dai Tian Temple Bus stop (one stop after Jiufen Police Station and one stop before Jiufen Old Street) to avoid too much walking. Cross the road walk towards the Temple and turn right. There is a left fork, a small lane. Follow that Pa Fan Keng would be on the left. A quaint facade with lots of plants and  red lanterns. Enter from the In house restaurant. Check In.
To get to our room we had to take 4 flights of stairs. Our room was on the 5th floor with a view. Large glass window with a ledge somewhat like a bar counter. 

ROOM: chose a double room with a seaview. Added a double bed. Still did not feel cramp. Beds comfortable enough. Bathroom size was good with a tub. Strong water pressure. From the side window of our room we could see the entrance to Jiufen Old street.

BONUS: This hotel has an exit on the 4th Floor. We will come out from the side door just outside Family Mart about 10m from the entrance of Jiufen Old Street. There is also a 7-11 nearby. Was very easy for us to get snacks and meals without all the strenuous stairs. 

From this exit, it is about  250m along the main Qiche Road to the entrance of Mt Keelung hiking trail. At the peak one can view the many bays, capes and cliffs and blue sea of the northern coastline, Jiufen and Jinguashi. We were fortunate to be blessed with good weather. Taipei 101 was also visible in the far distant. We could also see Ruifang from up the peak. It is better to take the mountain trail up. Lovely sea view and gradual incline and come down using the steep stairs. Less strenuous. Bring sufficient liquid.

Checking out - we left the key outside the room and let ourselves out from the 4th Floor exit. There is only one bus stop for the bus 1062 back to Taipei. It is about 100m up the road. We took a cab down to Taipei for a very good price NTD1000.

Strategic Location

Tv wasn't working and room was to small! We had a different room that was better, but the couple that we was traveling with didn't want to switch anymore after seeing our room! What a disappointing day! Also aircondontion was only cold upstairs where you was sleeping! Only thing positive about this b&b is that the staff is friendly

City trip

The location is very good! They actually have a door on the 4th floor that conveniently opens up to the Family Mart near the entrance to Jiufen Old Street, so you can avoid going up those stairs near the temple. The room is also big, with a big double bed and a single bed by the windows. The sofa in the living room downstairs can also be turned into a sofa bed. The hot water in the shower can also go extra hot, so for those who like them that way that's definitely a plus. I also cannot say enough good things about the view. One side of my room has the view of the temple and the mountains, while the other side has an excellent view of Jiufen (or maybe it's already Riufang) and the ocean.

The double bed was actually hard, as in like a slab of rock (when sitting the bed will not sink even a quarter inch). Fortunately, the extra foam beside the window was softer. So, what I did was drag the foams and put them on top of the bed. It was perfect then. Pictures on booking.com are prettier than real life so keep your expectations reasonable. The place is kinda dated but clean nonetheless. While the staff was extremely friendly, the lack of english proficiency proved difficult in the day when I checked out but had to leave my backpack so I can explore Jiufen more. When I came back to get my backpack, there was no one manning the restaurant and since I don't have a key anymore I had to knock for a few minutes before the door was opened (there was also NO doorbell so I had to knock extra loud and I was so embarrassed when the neighbor adjacent to the minsu opened her window and said something I cannot understand). Before I knocked though I called the property and the first call I asked that they open the door, the owner just said "english no" and hang up. Called again while knocking to no avail. That was very stressful for me as I had to bother other people just to get my backpack. I just wish they have a doorbell because it would have been easier.
