We stayed here during a hike through the region. Amazing.
There are shared bathrooms and showers (but you knew that already)  and no AC which seems to be the standard in CH.

Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. The beds were perfect and the linens were clean. The folks who run the inn were welcoming and warm.

The views are amazing and you'll hear the bells on the cows ringing in the distance.

They made us a bag lunch to take with us and it was my favorite sandwich of the whole trip. 

Exploring the Alps? This is a great spot.

My wife and I recently stayed at this Chalet for one night. The location was fantastic, the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. We stayed as part of a 10-day self-guided hike tour. We had dinner and breakfast at the chalet, both were absolutely delicious. I would highly suggest making this part of your vacation. There are many trails located nearby too.

Excellent Location, Delicious Meals and Friendly Staff

We were 2 adults, 3 teenagers and a dog, hiking from Sarnen to Grindelwald. On day two we slept over at this Chalet. Very friendly staff, good service, good food and breakfast. Rooms basic but clean. 30min walk from Rosenlaui. Bus connections to Meiringen as well as Grindelwald. Dogs allowed. Secluded hotel surrounded by cows (with bells) :-)

Perfect stop for hikers

The Chalet Schwarzwaldalp is a simple mountain hut happily situated in a pristine alpine setting.  (Right near the real-life “Reichenbach Falls,” site of the fictitious Sherlock Holmes/Professor Moriarty tussle to the death!)  The rooms are simple, with shared bathrooms, and that’s just fine.  The food is very good.  The hosts are friendly albeit a bit weary, which I suppose is fair given the work involved with all this hospitality.  We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of a week-long inn-to-inn walking trip in the wonderful Bernese Oberland.  We loved it.

Stunning Scenery

Schwarzwaldalp is an excellent location for hiking in the Swiss Alps. The hotel is convenient, super clean and everything needed is available. The food was a real surprise, fresh, tasty, creative and very nicely presented. Better than in a lot of expensive upscale restaurants. The service was excellent very friendly. Everything is just geared up to make you feel at home and comfortable. The area is beautiful. Excellent value.

Super hotel and location

Perfect place to start our Bernese Oberland journey. This hotel is in an absolutely beautiful spot and has many hiking options right out the door. We did an afternoon hike to the Rosenlaui Gletscherschlucht (gorge), which was very nice.Our room at the hotel was comfortable and had nice big windows. Shared bathroom was no problem since there are several. The food here is excellent. We had the half board and our dinner included smoked salmon and avocado appetizer, lamb and veggies. I am vegetarian, and they made sure I was well fed. The hotel is child friendly, with a playground next to the restaurant terrace. We would love to stay here again.

Excellent in every way

Very nice hotel at the start of our @runthealps vacation. Easy train to bus to hotel service. Excellent, varied food at every meal. Beautiful hiking from the grounds. Room was comfortable and spacious. 

Wonderful beginning to Alps adventure

A group of 8 friends hiked here from Meiringen and stayed overnight.  (You can also take a bus.) This hotel is in an amazingly beautiful location.  The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious and the rooms are clean and very comfortable.  I have stayed here once before and hope to come again.

Wonderful hotel in gorgeous location

This was so perfect. This is what you get when you mix a retired corporate professional with a chef. Perfect furnishings, beautiful flowers eveywhere, the best food (better than my 4-star meals in Europe), fantastic help in planning our hikes (in fact, I started with them in planning my entire Switzerland itinerary. In this region we stopped into many of these "mountain huts" and were SO grateful to realize we had definitely picked the best one. We stayed in Ascona between Lake Como and arriving here. Then hiked from here to Grindlewald. SUCH a great way to do it! Thank you, staff at Schwarzwaldalp, for making our stay so wonderful.

The BEST in "mountain huts" of this region

Last weekend i was with a group of 10 people and we stayed in the Chalet- Hotel Schwarzwaldalp. The food was super. The people were friendly. We had a booked doubled room for me and my colleague. I liked the simplicity of the hotel. Nearby you can also buy the famous cheese from the Swiss.
