Gasthaus Schwendelberg Luzern Horw

Our group of 6 travelers had the pleasure of staying at Gasthaus Schwendlberg during our 2 day stay in Lucerne. Don't let the windy road to get to the Gasthaus intimidate you...the views and accommodations are worth every twist and turn! We arrived at sunset our first night and were treated to the most breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne, surrounded by the majestic Alps. One of our favorite moments of our vacation! Inside the rooms were up to date and spacious. Our friends had a four person room, with a double bed and a set of bunk beds. They also had a lovely sitting area and million dollar views. My husband and I had a double room with a balcony that overlooked the terrace area of the hotel. While our friends had a private bathroom, our was shared but this posed no problems for us. Breakfast was amazing, with the croissants being the best we were offered all trip and ranking in some of our top 5 things we ate all vacation. Not having easy access to public transport, is a bit of a bummer- it's a 15 min drive to the nearest train station, and that's Horw- which does connect to Lucerne and several other cities, but you have you pay to park at the train station. A hotel shuttle to public transport would be a huge bonus. Apart from that, this Gasthaus' setting cannot be beat. The restaurant is amazing (reviewed separately) and the price is spot on for the area. I would highly recommend for groups, couples, and families.
