Hotel Central in Kriens

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights this week, and the stay was so enjoyable that I'm writing this review already! We're travelling through Europe on a Contiki tour so Contiki choose our accomodation, and we particularly enjoyed this hotel choice. The staff were very polite, the room had a nice wee view of mountainside and charming buildings,. big windows that opened to see said view, a massive and VERY COMFORTABLE bed! 10/10 bed. The room was spacious, the vintage furniture a lovely touch, the bathroom petite but clean with enough lighting. We were in room 10, so 1 floor up from reception, and the WIFI was very strong for us in our room. Room was clean and charming. From my two nights at this hotel, I can honestly say that I faced none of what some negative reviews have mentioned. Everything was good during our stay. Thanks heaps Hotel Central Kriens :)

We had no complaints re our stay here! Would recommend.

We stayed at the central hotel with a group of friends in December. The hotel staff are very friendly, the only problem was that wifi only worked downstairs in the lobby and not in our room.  The hotel was very old, but it had a certain charm about it and it was nice and homely. 
The location is perfect, it's such a nice quiet place and the views out the windows were beautiful.

Old charm

Travelled as part of a tour group and read up on all the hotels prior to departure, so knew to expect a lower standard when arriving at Hotel Central Kriens. Our room (main building) was bigger than most other rooms, and comfortably fit us both with our luggage. The room and bathroom's cleanliness was revolting. Our shower was literally covered in mould, and had a disgusting stench that made me want to vomit every time. I wore socks in the shower because I was scared of getting a fungus infection, and tried not to touch the walls. This is no exaggeration, I wish I got photos of it. The mirror in the vanity also had mould around it and was rusting. There was an empty coke bottle on the windowsill on the first day. We opened the curtain so that the cleaner would see it when the room was cleaned but when we came back the curtain had been pushed back and the coke bottle still there, despite our bed being made.

The hotel owner is old fashioned and has a quirky sense of humour, but I get the impression she would be a tough person to go up against if you had a query. Unless you're on a super budget and aren't fussed about hygiene, I'd stay elsewhere!

Very interesting...not wrong just different!

Awful hotel, found bed bugs crawling on me, when we went to tell the owner she said we brought them in, until I showed her photos. She then told us not to tell anyone and moved us to another room which had a shower head absolutely covered in mould. Our friends also had to move 3 times to find a bed with no bed bugs...
Would not even give this place a 1 star....

Worst hotel I've ever had to stay in! I wouldn't wish this place on anyone. The filth, the rude woman running it (screaming at her poor staff), the disgusting food, the bed bugs, bathroom door wouldn't shut, no aircon, weird feather bag which is meant to be a pillow was too much! I was staying with my Contiki tour and had no choice to stay anywhere else, however, I would have paid anything to not be here! Most of our group were moved up to 3 times due to a bed bug infestation in their rooms and the owner accused these people of just bringing them in with them! She asked for evidence of the bugs every time they told her about them so they had to bring the bug down from the room to show her and then she said not to tell the rest of the group! This is the absolute Pitts and should be shut down.
