Royal Sea Wind

This probably is not a hotel with rooms. We dropped in for evening drinks and were pleasantly surprised. There are many small bars on this stretch of the road running parallel to the public beach at Polhena. Most of them don't have a usable beach or any beach at all. This place doesn't have a beach either but there is a nice sit out built onto the water. The rest of the sitting spaces aren't nice. The main building, kitchen, parking etc are across the street. The Steward was very hospitable. The Beer and the food came very fast. Beer is quite reasonable. Rs. 350/- for the large bottle and that includes all taxes and they don't charge a Service Charge. To put you at ease about genuine quality, the Beer is opened in your presence rather ceremoniously but then just left on the table for you to pour it yourself. Most of the food seemed to be the typical local deviled stuff. The Hot Butter Cuttle Fish though a little fishy was OK. 700/- for a medium plate. French Fries were the cheap frozen type but well fried and Rs 440/- a plate But this is an absolutely no frills place. So don't expect too much. The deck over the rocks is fantastic for evening drinks with waves lapping below and the sun setting in the distance.
