Our hotel was last minute cancelled, so our travel agency gave us Kuwera Lodge as an option with the condition that we would pay an extra 250 Euros for two nights for the family room as half-board. After looking at the reviews, we accepted it, which was a wrong thing to do. Although the family lodge was very big, an comfortable, there were not a single hook or cupboard to put anything away. However, this is not the reason for my rather low score. The main problem was what we received in the evening. Sri Lankan buffet came in small bowls, exactly the same size of the next table with 2 people! Naturally, it was not enough for 5 of us. When we asked if there was a possibility of getting more meat, we were told it was not  possible. Sorry, but paying 250 Euros for two night, you do not expect that.

to expensive for what you get

We had a wonderful 3 nights at Kuwera Eco Lodge. We were welcomed with a much needed cold towel and advised that there is no plastic at the hotel so we can fill up our water bottles from the filtered water in the restaurant. The rooms are a good size with a good size bathroom too, very clean. You are in the jungle so expect some friends to join you sometimes ie lizards, frogs etc. The pool area is stunning with a lovely big pool and lots of sun beds and shade. Staff were super helpful - highly recommend if you are going on an elephant safari

Jungle Hotel

We couldn't be more effusive about Kuwera Eco Lodge, where we stayed half-board for 3 nights (book direct with the hotel for half-board and a saving on the price quoted by some third-party providers). Gorgeous and well equipped family room for 5 of us, with possibly the loveliest (outdoor) shower I've ever used. Breakfast and dinner are plentiful and delicious and service is always warm and helpful. The pool area is a lovely place to relax, read and cool down. The hotel includes accommodation for drivers. Possibly the only downside is very patchy wifi, but really a very minor thing when you're talking about such an idyllic place to stay.

Beautiful hideaway

Family of 5 with three teens stayed 4 nights and loved it! Middle of nature, lovely concept, amazing pool, excellent food, lovely staff and great rooms. On top the place is teeming with life - butterflies, squirrels, birds, monkeys, bats are all among the animals we saw there. There are elephants in the area as well and even one by the pool a month before we came! So many things to see and do in the area also, but I am glad we also had time to hang out and enjoy the place and talk to the staff. Wasantha is a true gem - so kind and service minded. Amazing tranquil place for nature lovers

We stayed at the resort for 3 nights as part of a family trip to Sri Lanka and we couldn't fault it; the bungalows were very spacious and comfortable and the food was excellent.  Dinner is a set menu with few choices but is delicious and breakfast is an option of Sri Lankan or Western, both very good indeed, both served in the outside restaurant.  The service was just brilliant, especially from Wasantha, who seemed to be able to provide whatever was needed before we'd even thought of it! We booked a yoga session on the outside yoga platform behind the pool which was very enjoyable, and the pool itself was a great bonus.  Wifi a bit patchy but manageable.  All in all an excellent stay!

Great place to stay with brilliant service

A very special hotel in the nature with nice bungalows and beautiful pool area. 
The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious! We don't remember his name, but the service guy was amazing, doing a great job! We loved to hear and see many different animals around. 

Great stay in nature



It’s a small resort in the forest with a wonderful swimming pool and comfortable bungalows with all facilities: mosquito net, coffee/tea, fridge, hair dryer. The rooms are lovely and the bathroom big and comfortable. The eco in the name means waste is reduced to minimal, water is delivered from a dispenser, bath foam, shampoo and lotion are in clay bottles that can be filled, hot water comes from solar panels. The staff is very kind and helpful. Towels for the pool are provided. There is a little patio in front of the rooms where you can sit. The food is excellent in traditional style. Breakfast is served at the table: juice (only suggestion would be to give a choice of juices), tea/coffee, large dish of fruit, eggs, different kinds of bread with jam.
Dinner is traditional, well presented and tasty.

A perfect spot

We arrived in the dark, pouring rain to a warm, kind and concerned welcome. The setting is a lovely nature lodge with the restaurant outside and some of the showers (totally private but) also outdoors. The food is limited in choice but absolutely excellent, lovely pool. The whole experience felt very back to nature. We absolutely loved it

Excellent, the loveliest staff you will ever meet

This is a lovely hotel a short drive from Sigiriya. We had 2 rooms adjacent to each other which were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good, we didn’t have a meal here in the evening.
Only criticisms would be that rooms were only cleaned if you asked for it to be done & not really enough beds around the pool.
Wifi is patchy but bearable!

A lovely hotel a short drive from Sigiriya

Very friendly staff, supportive in any questions, nice and clean room with AC, mosquito net over the bed, super breakfast , selection of fruit different local bread as well as eggs to your liking, lovely dinner with different curry versions. Place highly recommend!
