House of Leisure is a delightful no-frills guesthouse in what I considered a great location because it provided beautiful hillside views but was less than 5 minutes (3-wheeler) to get to the main road should you want to head to the city centre. Lovely staff. So long as you remember it's not a hotel, carry your own toiletries and are not fazed by less than sparkling bathroom facilities, you'll enjoy it as much as we did. I will say this however, we could hear loud music from the neighbouring park play into the wee hours. If you're a light sleeper, this may bother you. We on the otherhand, slept like logs.


Delightful no frills guesthouse in a great location

Very clean and comfortable location with walking distance of lake Gregory and the race course. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating! They even arranged a tour for us on the festival day. Very quiet location and gorgeous views of Nuwara Eliya and Adam’s Peak

Great hospitality!

Got impressed with the location of this hotel. Quite and calm place. Great breakfast. Nice hospitality by owner Mr. Gayan. The view from room is awesome. I recommend this hotel as one of the best hotels in Nuwaraeliya. Thank you, Mr. Gayan, for your best services.

Memorable Stay!

House of Leisure is in quiet neighborhood of Nuwara Eliya, but close to city centre at the same time. Restaurants and shops are in walking distance. 
View from the room is stunning - green tea plantations. Room is big, fully equipped, and perfectly clean. No bugs (our room was on the reception floor). 
The owner is a very nice man, speaks english fluently. He arranged for us a car to Horton Plains soon in the morning for a reasonable price, and  gave us all necessary information, also arranged tuktuk for the same price that the drivers on the city asked. 
What I want to thank for most is, that when I got diarrhea and unexpectedly had to stay here one night longer to recover, the owner prepared boiled carrot and rice for me (since it was the only thing I could ate). 
To sum up, I highly recommend this hotel which is nice and has very attentive and nice staff. I have nothing to complaim or warn about.

Very good stay

Wonderful location with breathtaking views from all of the rooms! Very quick walk to Lake Gregory area, and also very easy to get a tuk tuk to take you into town cheaply. The host Gion was extremely friendly and helpful, and ensured that we were pleased with everything during our stay. He helped identify the best tea plantations and nearby waterfalls to visit, and arranged the transportation. They also offer free tuk tuk transportation from the Nanuoya train station. Unfortunately our train ran late (over 1.5hrs) and we didn't have a working phone to contact them with an update so the driver left, though we place the blame more on the train and our lack of a phone (get a sim card at the airport when you arrive, it's worth it!). The nearly floor-to-ceiling windows in each room offered wonderful views of the rolling hills of tea plantations, and the beds were very comfortable with extra soft blankets. The breakfast was also delicious, with fresh fruit, toast and jams, local tea, and your choice of eggs.

Breathtaking views & great location!

If your looking for a "country house" with a great view and very friendly staff that would be it ! For me my journey to sri lanka was better for staying at this gorgeous hotel. If your looking for a very fancy modern hotel then that is not it! But yet you won't be able to experience the simplicity this town is like and taste the country side away from all crowded cities life arw. 

For me It actually very recommended gave me peaceful as it has a PERFECT view, try to have one of the rooms that are up stairs it has an amazing view. Manager is very friendly very generous and more like a family member than just being "professional boring like" 

As for the negativity i would say it could be better cleaned but nothing very obvious or irritating.

Breakfast either traditional "has curry and spicies" which i dont recommend to have as empty stomach meal if your not already used to. And they have the other english breakfast option. Depending on your liking. 



Great view

When we arrived we was welcome with tea from the host, we was travelling on our honeymoon & had the downstairs room, the bed was decorated with Happy Honeymoon decorations which was lovely.
Quite difficult to find as not well sign posted from the main road.
The room itself was basic but clean, very cold! We came in December and i wish i had bought extra jumpers, however there are blankets provided and you can request a heater if you need one. 
Breakfast was amazing, we left at 5am to down a trip so the host made us a packed breakfast which was really nice of him, the next day we had breakfast there and there was so much food! We had the option to have either local or western breakfast, we chose western. there was sooo much including string hoppers, hoppers, pancakes, toast! The effort they went to for breakfast was amazing. 
The view from our bedroom as well was beautiful, a hige wondow over looking the hills!

Amazing view!

When i came to Nuwara Eliya i liked the city, but when i came to House of Leisure i was in love. So nicely furnished and so nice and helpful staff. Oh, and amazing breakfast. Staff helped me to organize all the trips I wanted to visit and see, in the evening you get a heater and the shower is with hot water (it’s amazing because the weather-rain,fog, cold in the evening). So I totally recommend booking this guesthouse! I was suppose to stay 1 night but I just had to book for one more. Definitely coming back!

Beyond amazing!

We recently stayed in the lower room with sweeping views over the valley and despite its large size it was very dated and shabby.  The room door didn't shut without slamming, the pillows were long overdue to be replaced, the bed was very hard and the towels were thin.  There was no wardrobe to hang anything up and the bathroom was a bright pink throwback to the 1950's with a wall hung water heater that provided a scalding hot shower that was difficult to control. I also saw the room on the top floor and its picture window was plastic and not glass.   The upside was the cook,  Sandun. This charming man  took so much pride in the freshness of his food, its preparation, the cleanliness of his kitchen  and his desire to please,  that we couldn't help but feel very welcome and made this a memorable stay indeed.
