I spent 2 days at Hotel Chenra with my family and it was a great experience. Great food and facilities with nice and friendly staff. All the facilities were very well maintained and it was one of the best place I have stayed in Katharagama so far.  

Excellent place to stay with family in Katharagama

Never ever recommend this hotel. Never go there. They reserve rooms in low rate & charge triple time of booking rate when you chk out. There are thugs in this hotel combine with Kataragama police staff to threat guests to pay what ever amount they say. Food also terrible . Very unclean low quality staff . No maintenance hotel area. So never ever go there I have very bad experience

Never book or stay this hotel

We family with 5 people stayed at the cottage on 5/8/2022.
Cottage was spacious and and cleaned. Bathrooms were not well maintained.one bathroom had No Hot water.other bathroom hot water shower hose broken. I changed it by myself.I was really surprised when they said that they are not giving Bed Tea, even though its a 3 star hotel.Price was 12000 as they said initially. But when they checking out they charged 10% service charge. So beware of hidden charges

Has Hidden Chargers.

Extremely poor maintained. Those photos'  does not reflect the current condition of the hotel. we bought 3 villas .One did not have water at all. hot water did not work in remaining two. Specially  manager is a cunning person (Cheater) .He changed the rates when we check out. I strongly recommend not to stay here. In case you want stay book everything through online line only. Further swimming pool is in pathetic condition it seems it has been not maintained at all

Poorly maintained

We were very disappointed on the booking. We left from the hotel as the service was very poor. The lunch was delayed and we ignored it. But all the rooms had water issues. The villa tyoe room bookings individual doors cannot close. The curtain hangers were also broken. Care taker (manager) service + PR is poor. hotel Chenra wasn’t good as booking.com recommended.

Cannot recommend

Stayed here for 1 night and it was the absolute best! The staff was super friendly including chef Priyantha. The atmosphere was great. The rooms and the premises needed more attention as we understand the Covid and cutting down on staff had a relationship here. So mind that issue during these hard times. The food was amazing. Typical Kataragama style meals as you may like it. 
The hotel is just in the center of Kataragama making it easy to travel to many religious places. Try out this hotel. You will want to stay here again :)

Best around Kataragama!

The place seems to be not maintained regularly. Might have been a super place initially with a pool large garden and plenty of AC rooms. We stayed here for one night and can say that the place is average. Room had a big bed, bathroom with hot water and a tv with few local channels. We felt the room was not cleaned properly specially the bathroom. AC was good. We only saw 2 boys as staff here. For the low price you pay it might be good. But don’t keep high expectations. Good for just a night stay on your pilgrimage. 

Not maintained regularly it seems

Good hotel atmosphere. Quite & calm place . Spacious bed rooms .  Comfy beds . .Nice swimming pool. Also very close to katharagama devalaya . New hotel But not maintained well .No electric kettle in the room .management s not helpfull 

Calm place ..

when we reach the hotel it was about 2.00 pm and they said that that rooms are not ready.we waited a long time to get in to our room.my first impression is the hotel is very dirty.it had not been cleaned for ages.the room was very small and completely different from the pictures i have seen from the website. the electric kettle was terrible and it had not cleaned from the last use.at the night when we reach the hotel it was very dark.there are no lights in the whole building.the bathroom was very old and the equipments are not working properly.
other than the pool everything in this hotel are terrible .

very dissappointing-don't stay in this hotel

First they messed up booking. We asked to book twin bunglow. they confirmed , but when we arrived there was only single bunglow and a stupid double room. The double room doesnt have any space at all. 
Dinner is also bad.Rice felt dull. 
Anyway the main problem is their service.
Service is really terrible. As an example it took more than one hour to bring a tea cup. We also requested pillows for kids but didnt provide. When we requested pool towels they asked to take it from the just washed towels which were still drying on trees.
