There are two Kais guest houses. One is "Kais Guest House" and the other is "Kais City Guest House." And I stayed at Kais City Guest House which is very close from the Jaffna Clock Tower, the city center. Fort, market, library, station and every attractions of Jaffna town is in the walking distance. 

Kais City Guest House cannot offer meals unfortunately but the guesthouse owners kindly recommended several restaurants nearby. They have a fridge and kitchen the guests can use, so you do not have any troubles to prepare your own tea/coffee, cool your drinks, and bring your own foods from the town area. On the contrary, Kais Guest House which is located suburban area provides great Jaffna cuisine it seems. I would like to try it next time.

Mr. Prava, one of the guesthouse owner, has a great knowledge on the Jaffna historical sites. He kindly arranged a one day tour around Jaffna and a half day tour to Nagadeepa/Nainative. If you would like to complete most of the attractions, you may need at least three days in Jaffna (And I missed to visit Delft Island...). You will learn a lot of culture, history, and nature of Jaffna if you travel around with Jaffna locals like Mr. Prave or Mr. Ajith, the guesthouse owners.

Great Location, Perfect for Jaffna City Explore

Stayed for 3 nights. Spacious room, excellent a/c and hot shower. Really nice upstairs covered seating area - sit out for breakfast and evening meal. Hosts couldn't be more helpful and friendly. Breakfast hoppers and egg & milk, with fruit and tea. Can also have evening meal. Rented mopeds for a good price (although they needed a bit of maintenance). Overall, very good value for what is there.

Great little guesthouse

Kais guest house is a lovely family house with really clean rooms set around a nice communal space. The rooms have strong fans and good A/C and the layout of the place with lots of shade means it is a cool oasis from the heat and hurly burly of Jaffna. We had a nice pot of tea with the super friendly family on arrival, and enjoyed a nice breakfast in the mornings. 

The husband of the house keeps a few bikes in spotless condition and we're perfect for a 50km ride around Jaffna Islands. The house also has a lovely terrace on the roof: perfect for an evening pot of tea in the breeze as the sun goes down. We initially walked to Kais from the station and a tuk tuk anywhere in town is about 200 rupees to and from the guest house. 

Brilliant local hospitality 

We stayed 3 nights there.It is a little bit away from the city center (20 min walk or 200 Rs tuk tuk). The staff is really nice, helpful, and will make you feel like you are really welcome. They arranged a tuk tuk tour for us, with an excellent driver Suresh. We had a wonderful time there. Food is very good and the room is clean, with efficient A/C. Thanks a lot !

Cheap place, very nice people, good food

My stay at this Guest House was a great disaapointment.  The room was probably OK by local standards, towels supplied were old and smelly,  the bathroom was dirty and not cleaned,  there was no reception after 6pm, very poor ambience.   There was no reception even in the morning either.   The House was  was dark and gloomy.   Ideal for $5 a day back packers.   Not a safe place to stay for solo travellers.   No meals provided at the Guest House
