On a beach with some upmarket hotels, here this chilled guesthouse has great access to the beach, with its own sunbeds and quiet patch of beach to chill on. Amal and his family were friendly and welcoming. Basic guesthouse set up, but everything was clean. Balcony breakfast was lovely! This is the best beach in the area, and this is the best place to stay on the beach!

Super friendly, great location

Amal and his family were delightful. The accommodation was perfect for us; it was clean, tidy and had its own little balcony area. It is perfectly located, with the beach just steps away. While we were there it was possible to swim in the sea immediately in front of guesthouse, but this is not always so, as is the case along much of this coastline. The real bonus here is that For perfectly tranquil swimming, there is a peaceful lagoon a few metres along the beach. In the lagoon you regularly see turtles and can a wide variety of tropical fish, so take your snorkel and mask! There are lots of lovely bars and little restaurants along the beach, none of which are loud tourist type places. The breakfast and meals provided by Amal were fantastic. We always went with the traditional Sri Lankan options and never regretted it. All in all a place we will revisit and have no hesitation in highly recommending. 

Our perfect beach holiday location!

We have stayed with Amal and his family for the last x3 nights and have loved it! The guesthouse is 5 metres from the beach (the back garden is sand!) and the room is simple but very comfy and has everything you’d need during your stay. Amal is a perfect host that will bring breakfast to your balcony at whatever time you desire and makes you fresh juice to your taste too! He even dropped us into Galle in his tuk-tuk for free which was a lovely touch. Having visited the nearby town of Unawatuna for the day, we were happy that we chose Dallawella over Unawatuna as our base for this leg of our Sri Lanka trip. Thank you Amal and family for a lovely stay! 

Paradise!

Peace, nature, sea, sand, palms. Simply perfect like the smile of lovely nanny who made us dinner and breakfast. 
Rooms were clean and comfortable, you can admire from the window one of best sunset ever.

a lovely place

A perfect place

We have stayed 2 nights at Amal Guesthouse during our Sri Lanka trip in 2017 and enjoyed our stay a lot. 
(+) Our room itself was basic but very clean with a comfortable bed and great balcony overlooking the garden and beach. 
(+) The location is lively but much less busy than Unawatuna. There were some smaller hotels, cafés, and restaurants in short walking distance along the beach where we had good lunch and a few cocktails in the evening. 
(+) The beach right at the guesthouse is absolutely stunning. We swam with large sea turtles right in front of the house. There is also a  lagoon in which smaller children could swim a few metres away.
(+) Breakfast was among the best on our trip (most smaller guesthouses served awesome breakfast while hotels were usually not that great), and we had really tasty dinner there, too. Enjoying it on the balcony was perfect.
(+) Amal and his family were a great hosts, friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome.

(-) The ocean waves were pretty noisy. We didn't have any problem with it but if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs.
