Hotel Rural Los Texos

We stayed at Los Texos in June 2013. This is a lovely stone built rural hotel. We were woken up to the lovingly by singing canaries. We could hear a stream in the background (when windows was open). Lovely location. When we booked, we were concerned about 'road noise' as Los Texos is on a main road, but we needed not have worried. Although it is the main road to Covadonga (lakes), no one goes where at night (as you cant see anything scenery in the dark). The road is effectively a dead end. I did not hear any motor vehicles until after 9.30 in the morning. Even then it was not busy at all. Getting There ~~~~~~~~~~~ Ignore the Sat Navigation. It took us to the wrong place. Basically you get into town of Cangas de Onis, then then drive out of town about 5km towards Covadonga (lakes). Los Texos should be on the way. You can't get lost, as there is only one road to Covadonga, so keep a look out for rural buildings along the way. Hotel / Room ~~~~~~~~~~ The hotel has a bar / restaurant. The rooms are above the hotel. It is a fairly quiet location. We had a twin room in the loft. The window in the room was fairly high up. So, we had to climb up some funiture in the shape of steps to see the view. We came late at night, so the view was not so important. They had rooms on the floor below, but I think those rooms were taken. The room was nice, had bags of character and lovely wooden beams in the ceiling. It had a rural feel. Although, it was dusty in places (e.g. TV stand). There was a lack of sockets to charge mobile phones (unless you decided to unplug the lamp). There was a fly in the room. Luckily, I travel with bug spray and found 3 flies dead by the morning. Bathroom: The bathroom was not as nice as the room. I did n't like the bathroom. Breakfast: hot beverage, toast and a plate of selection of 'pre-wrapped' biscuit/bakery. Wi-fi: We could not get Wi-fi in the room. However, we could pick up Wi-fi in the restaurant. When we asked for the Wifi code, it was a 20 digit code e.g. a7f7d9jc9djf........... Not very user friendly to type in. When we typed it in, it did not work.... We gave up. It is something every other hotilier got right. They had also turned the router off. We booked the room on the phone and they kept it for us.....
