Excellent lodge : bungalow top notched, food as well, location and environnement very good. All is great, but yet, I thought the butler too affected, too artificial, too professionally trained to excessive politeness and affected manners. He was like he worked in a 3 stars French restaurant. Because we are in the bush, amidst nature and wild life (thus true and unaffected), the staff should be likewise : true, sincere, polite and nice, but not artificial, like a welle trained puppet.

My 3 days at Mhondoro Lodge

Absolutely beautiful, very modern in style, fantastic staff, nothing is too much trouble. There is a communal pool from which elephants come to drink! There is also a waterhole in front, and a most unusual underground viewing room giving you a water level close up view of the animals. The food is top drawer, and the hospitality unbeatable - this is a safari lodge that sets the bar high, for others to try and match.

One of the most incredible and amazing experiences of my entire life. I was extremely sad to leave. I was in Johannesburg for work and decided to use my weekend between work to go to a reserve. After about of research, I settled on the Welgevonden reserve and specifically the Mhondoro lodge. I was not disappointed. It’s not just the setting or the amenities of the lodge but the staff that make all the difference. Each one of them treated me like a family member. From the front office staff (Koko, Ronelle and Mariska) to the chefs, butlers, housekeepers and safari guides (thank you Andrew), I felt I was with people I’ve known my entire life. I won’t lie, I was genuinely sad to leave the lodge, the resort and the people behind.

A once in a lifetime experience that I never wanted to end.

What can I say.......this place completely stole our hearts... it is so incredibly special. My family and I spent 4 nights here and it was 5 of the best days I've ever spent anywhere. The suite, the food, the game viewings, the water hide, the spa and most importantly the staff are all exceptional. Everything far exceeded my expectations in every single way. 

Your guide stays with you for the entirety of your stay and we were incredibly lucky to get Michael as ours. We had such a fantastic time on our game drives, Michael was so much fun and we saw such amazing things, lions eating Zebra, cheetah with 3 cubs, 20 elephants bathing together in a lake....he was so good at keeping my 10 year old son engaged too. From our champagne sundowner to our pancakes bush breakfast everything was just spectacular. The lodge itself is a wonderful place to relax between game drives and the butlers, particularly Oupa, Issac and Clifford did a fantastic job of looking after us. The elephant drinking out of the pool during our Boma dinner was an absolute highlight!! 

There is nothing to dislike about this place .... Just book it!!! I cried my heart out when we left. We will be back Mhondoro, you certainly do arrive as guests but leave as friends....❤️

Take us back .....

Staying at Mhondoro was the highlight of my wife and I's honeymoon.  Everything about it was absolutely perfect - we were so sad to leave.  Despite living across the world, we told ourselves we will definintely make the trip back someday.  I would recommend this lodge to everyone looking for a perfect safari experience.  Every aspect - the staff, game drives, and food, exceeded our expectations.  Thank you for making our honeymoon as special as we could have ever imagined.

Best decision ever!

Most beautiful lodge, sweetest host couple, everything was amazing, food, service and the most beautiful place.  The combination of relaxation with fantastic surroundings, Safari with the most fantastic guide, Christian with his passion for the animals and commitment and not least the coziness with coffee, wine and drinks.  Would love to come back 😍

Lovely place

From the first second to the last, this was a wonderful experience that will stay with us forever. The friendliest staff, excellent food and a family feel from start to finish. Mhondoro is a treat that everyone deserves to experience.

Simply wonderful

Thank you so much for a wonderful 2 night stay.  The Elephants came to grace us with their presence 3 times at the pool whilst we were there, which was simply a dream come true.  The food was delicious, the staff, so friendly.  I will definitely be visiting again with the rest of my family.
