The lodge is ideally located, not far from Komatipoort, its shops and restaurants. next to the Kruger Park's entrance and along the Crocodile River. Its chalets are spread along the river where all animals come and go. We saw and heard many of them and witnessed fantastic sunsets from our terrace. We stayed in the unit called Imvubu, which was perfectly furnished, neat and comfortable. It offered an additional bed and lounge on the terrace that enabled us to experience the Kruger nightlife from a protected shelter. The staff was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this unique retreat!

I recently stayed at Elephant Walk Retreat (12/2 - 12/12/22) and thoroughly enjoyed this well-kept, comfortable, excellently-located lodge (with separate private and/or adjoining chalets) while engaging in an intense 10-day 12-hour-a-day Kruger N.P. safari. Aptly named, you can watch elephants and other African wildlife from your balcony, walking by or stopping in the river for a drink. Not to slight any of this wonderful retreat's hospitality staff but Elephant Walk Retreat's best kept secret is "Tony," its on-site property & lodge manager/director. He saw to all my lodging and meal needs, and ensured my comfort on a daily basis, personally checking in with me all 10 days to guarantee all was going well. He even personally went to local grocery stores for items I needed but which I had no time to procure. What a fantastic lodge manager! Elephant Walk Retreat is 100% Tony .. and Tony 100% personifies the graciousness of this excellent choice when lodging near Kruger National Park!

Relaxing Retreat With Excellent Staff

Meals on the private deck, punctuated by hippo grunts and good elephant sightings - we had a great time! Lionet, the manager was very helpful and took our suggestions/criticisms with good spirit - they got working on some items immediately.

An experience of note

Stayed at Elephant Walk Retreat in March 22 and we were wowed from the moment we arrived. Fantastic location right at the entrance to Kruger, you can´t get any closer! Amazing views of the river where we were lucky enough to have 2 visiting elephants just as we arrived.

There is a beautiful swimming pool for you to relax in after a long day in Kruger or even spend the day beside if you fancy having a relaxing day out of the park.

Great self catering facilities just a short drive from town where you can stock up on supplies or eat in one of the local restaurants.

If you want good priced accommodation with excellent facilities very close to Kruger this should be your no1 choice!

A beautiful gem of a place, in the most fantastic location, right on Kruger's doorstep!

Beautiful views of the Crocodile river and convenient location to the Crocodile Bridge gate. Rooms are spacious and air-conditioned, beds very comfortable. Great swimming pool. Kitchen a little small and located out of air-conditioned area but manageable. Family owned and operated with great service. Highly recommended!

If you need to be 50m from a Kruger Park entrance gate, want to hear the Kruger Park animals all day and night, look into Kruger Park from your patio, then Elephant Walk Retreat is just the place. Feel like a drive in the park? Just hop in your car, skip across the river to Crocodile Bridge and stay till 2 minutes before the gates close.
Beautiful lawns, spacious wooden cabins. After Covid the woodwork needs a bit of fresh varnish, but inside is sparkling and clean.

On Kruger's doorstep

I've read several poor reviews on here and feel people are expecting 5 star accommodation, it isnt its 3 stars and for 3 star it is 5 star performer.  We stayed in unit 8 with outdoor bed option, will bats come in yes will there be mouse droppings every morning yes but your in the bush and dont have to sleep outdoors. Unit is serviced well daily staff are friendly with receptionist even setting up wifi in out lodge when we struggled for service.

Sat on end of bed and watched elephants and hippo daily which is an amazing experience.

Dstv and aircon is great and gives you a chance to have some luxury but if you dont like the bush dont stay here

Clean, affordable and location! Right outside the park!

The property is located right next to the crocodile bridge entrance to the park. The rooms are spacious and offer both inside and outside sleeping with views of the river and into Kruger.
