On our way to Melissa's we were informed that the location changed as the advertised holiday location was no longer in use. We were directed to another location in Strand that did not have a garden/swimming pool or any view. It looked like a half way completed flat with small living quarters. When we said we are unhappy, or and my family was asked to wait while an alternative arrangement was made. After 30minutes we've decided to seek other accommodation and requested our money back. For which the owner of Melissa's replied that a 'virtual card' was used to make the booking. I paid the full amount for our stay well in advance and I am extremely unhappy with the service.

No wifi, kettle with coffee in each room or basic bathroom accessories such as soap were available as advertised. The room had no hot water and left us with a cold shower. Upon inquiring the next morning, at about 9am, about the amenities that were not available the manager was still in bed. The staff woke him and he addressed us in his pyjamas. He apologized for the geyser not being switched on and did not know that each room should have a kettle and coffee. Since we did not receive everything we paid for, I asked for discount. The manager said that he cannot make such decisions. I phoned the owner, who also apologised and offered no remedy, but said he would phone the manager to clarify the matter. Melite Boutique Rooms offered us a free night’s stay at any convenient time, since we do not live in the area. I asked for a voucher or credit note which we can produce as payment for our next stay and the manager said that they do not issue any of those items and he will personally assist us on our next booking. 

We stayed a Saturday night 29 July 2017. I tried to make a booking for 13 or 14 October 2017 (Friday or Saturday), upon which the owner Janine informed me that we will only be permitted to stay over a weekend if we book both the Friday and the Saturday night and pay for 1 night, otherwise we should book a night between Monday & Thursday which would be complimentary. This “any convenient time” subject to their limitations upon booking, is of no convenience and will advise anyone to avoid the Melite Boutique Rooms or if need be, make sure the geyser is turned on.

Friendly stuff,rooms always neat and tired,clean bedding and a great place to relax after a long trip,close to the shops and beach,there is a braai place,l also hired a scooter to sight see Gordon's bay,

After email confirmation of booking when i phoned the morning just to confirm I was told room was not available.I was then offered a more expensive room got ther I did like the room. The bedroom door was too close to excess and entrance went to go for something else luckly found place last minute in Strand.Think view of mountain's also misleading.

This guesthouse is situated on the foot of the mountain with wonderful sunsets over the bay with white beaches.   Its a realy homely romantic little place in the bay.   The hosts were fantastic.   This hidden bay is also hidden from the elements.   The winter wonderland lights festival was a lot of fun and festive.   This quaint little town has wonderful winter weather.   Feels like summer in Europe...
