We loved our four-night stay at Purple House. We were in Apartment 2, which is on the upper ground floor. It was spotless and cleverly decorated in a ‘classic’ style. The kitchen was well equipped. Henk and Guido were excellent hosts – arranging for a car to pick us up from the airport, greeting us cheerfully despite our midnight arrival, and stocking the fridge with items I requested in advance. We enjoyed lunch at the Oranjezicht City Farm Market, which Henk recommended we visit. Purple House is located in Waterkant, where the houses are painted in bright colours and the many rooftop gardens give the area a verdant ambience. Guardians stationed on street corners help keep the neighbourhood safe.
