My wife and myself lived in Senegal (Dakar) in the early/late 80s and are currently paying our first return visit touring around the country visiting some new and old haunts.

Our last 2 nights were spent at Les Collines De Niassam which is a collection of luxury ECO Huts (a word I use loosely) on a large, fast flowing river with an abundance of birdlife. It is owned and run by a delightful Frenchman who spent a year building the property 20 years ago. How he ever managed to find this site in the first place is beyond me but find it he did!!

The ‘huts’ are varied - some in trees and ours (Lagoon 3) is together with one other on a delightful small island that is only reachable by a double planked Walkway. No problem during the day (when the tide is often as not out) but challenging at night unless you deploy the excellent Guardian’s services! Once there, the huts are spacious with a comfortable bed (together with an excellent mosquito net) and a spacious bathroom - not hot water but it is tepid once you get accustomed to it!!

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners are provided and all the meals we had were excellent with a good serving team on hand.

All in all, this was a most enjoyable experience and one I would certainly recommend to others provided they did their homework in advance. Rest assured you won’t be disappointed and a warm welcome awaits!!

Great Location which is completely at Peace with Nature!

This is a perfect hide away and you are in the middle of the pure nature. The hospitality and service of the team is above top level. They helped us organising our tours and made our stay perfect with their daily smiles. The food is more than delicious! We are impressed and will definitely return very soon!

Pure nature - Perfect Service 

We chose to stay in the treehouse even though the lagoon villa looks nice and didn’t regret it 

Being perched high up on 3rd floor with views of the sea and surroundings were worth the climb.  We had birds visiting constantly, hearing them chirping, and music from nature was amazing 

The 2nd floor comprised of a small patio with hammock, table with 2 chairs 

They offered breakfast at the patio which was good though we wished for fruits during breakfast 

The first floor was the shower and bath. It was partially open space and built around the tree. 

Food was outstanding 

We had fish and chocolate cake for dinner, calamari and vegetable quiche for lunch 

One can wander around visiting the salt plains, cycle, take the horse cart or simply just relax amid the tranquility 

Great work In blending the nature 

Bring a torch as the area is dimly lit at night, and mosquito repellent.

Living with nature 

Spent 3 nights here as part of a relatively short family holiday in Senegal 
Very much the highlight of our trip , we stayed in overwater lodges beautifully furnished and airy despite the heat  
Whilst very low key we enjoyed horse riding trips around the expansive grounds and bathing in the pool and the lagoon by our accommodation in particular the healing mud we could coat on like a face - pack 
Staff were very kind and charming as we found all over Senegal( albeit it helps to speak French ) and the food was amongst the best we have ever eaten anywhere in the world 
Whilst no big 5 experience is available in Senegal we enjoyed getting close to Hyena close to the lodge ( in a horse drawn “Caleche”) and the giant monitor lizards , and the push-up lizards (so called as they do human type exercises ) and the incredible bird life 
  And a big thanks the the very genial and  knowledgeable host Jean -Pierre
   Lack of internet ( only for emergencies ) and luke -warm showers were not an issue for us but might be for others but it was one of the more relaxing places we have stayed 

Beautiful and peaceful place 

The lodge is located in a nature reserve and it is beautiful and calm. We stayed for two nights in a laguna room and the views and place was amazing. You could see the sun rise and set from the room, and the lagune next to it was perfect for floating about (very shallow water). A perfect place to disconnect from the world.

Wonderful location

Calm and beautiful place, hotel workers are very helpful and responsive. We enjoyed the nature and beautiful view of the lagoon just outside our room.  Was nice to see another part of Senegal

Can improve on meals by giving more than one option.
