Everything about this stay was incredible. The place itself is beautiful, the rooms clean and functional and the kitchen area cosy and social. However, the hosts were the main attraction. John and Elena were extremely welcoming, and made our stay all the more special. Elena's cooking and hospitality was fantastic, and John was the most wonderful guide. John was very knowledgeable about the area and was able to take us to the most interesting places. He was also able to speak English for our relatives who were also visiting from the UK. We were very impressed. Would highly recommend.

We spent four nights at Casa Calin while touring the Danube Delta.  Elena and husband, John, run an amazing guest house.  

Sleeping rooms are in a new addition situated in a lovely garden.  Each apartment has a private bathroom with modern shower and plenty of hot water.  The beds are very comfortable with the right amount of linens.  The large window lets in lots of light and fresh air.  There is an air conditioning unit but I never needed it.

Meals are served in a screened area off the main house.  Food is served family style on large patters.  Authentic Romanian food is a delight but Elena does ask if guest have preferences.  We learned to just let her cook what she wanted to cook.  Everything was great and healthy.  Much of the food comes from her garden.

Three perfect days spent in Crisan at Casa Calin! The location is the best, between 2 channels: the big Sulina Branch and a small channel in the back of the yard. The food is great, vegetables from the garden and tasty fish, prepared by Madame Nuti. John and Ionut are the best guides, they never stop talking in the trips we made to discover the secrets of the Danube Delta. I came home with so interesting info on history of the place, on fauna and flora and even on vocabulary evolution.

We spent 3 days at Casa Calin and our hosts Elena and John made our stay a fantastic experience. The rooms are very comfortable, clean and nicely furnished and Elena cooked for us local fish dishes which were really delicious. We visited the Delta mostly for bird watching and photography and John was our guide every day. And he is an amazing guide - his knowledge about the various species of birds, animals and plants is outstanding. He took us to the most beautiful places, through wild water channels, to lakes with bird colonies and showed us the less known parts of the Delta. We came back with excellent pictures and memories and for this we are thankful to our hosts. We highly recommend Casa Calin to anyone who is interested in bird watching and photography as well as in discovering the wild beauty of the Danube Delta.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of an Uncover Romania Delta tour. Very comfortable family run  “ecolodge” with dinner and breakfast provided. They threw in free use of their kayaks which we took through canals behind the property. Great food. Wi fi good! While we had tours booked, the family can organise birdwatching and cultural trips around the delta as well.

A lovely stay at Elena in Crisan village. She cooks really great and her family is always there to offer you excellent guided boat trips (in English too). Both her husband John and her brother Ionut are probably some of the best boat tour guides in the Danube Delta with all the details they know about the birds, vegetation and the history of the Danube Delta itself. The rooms are basic for 3 stars with AC and they offer a nice dining area where you can have good Wi-Fi connection too.

What a location to spend a few days. The area is easily accessible from the Casa Calin. John is an exceptionally knowledgeable guide for the tours in the delta area. The area is great for bird watching (in season), just relaxing and enjoying local food dishes and the local wines.

I had a lovely stay with John and Elena in Crisan. John was guiding the tours in de delta. We saw many special birds like glossy Ibis, pelicans, all kinds of herons like squacco heron, night heron, purple heron, spoonbills, ferruginous duck and so on. John was a enthousiastic guide knowing a lot of the danube delta and his wildlife. I really can recomment a stay in house Calin with them. Great food, lovely people and nice trips! Ingrid, Belgium

Three nights at Casa Calin and everything was perfect! Nothing to do but relax, take excellent guided tours, eat fabulous food, cruise along a secluded channel in a kayak and enjoy the wonderful hospitality of the lovely hosts. A highlight of my time in Romania.
