This was my fourth time in Bonbini, it is a chosen place to entry and exit Peru. Close to everything. Safe and solid, although, as it happens, a bit dated building with no elevator. The patrons are mostly local and south americans, often families. Free internet with computers (no quirky wi-fi!) in the hallway. Very good email response. As was mentioned below, if you want to pay with a credit card, mention you are ready to pay surcharge, otherwise the machine will not be working. And yes, they have a lady driver with a good car for airport transfer, twenty bucks (about same that in the airport, but she knows the place).

Rooms are quite big and the position of this hotel is very central. By walking you can easily reach the 2 main squares of Lima, the pedestrial road and the Monastery of San Francis (catacombs and ancient library).

Walking distance to everything you have to see in the center!

I stayed in Bonbini two years ego, on entering and exiting Peru, and was happy with their services, so I chose it again. It keeps good working. It is catering mostly to Latin American clientele, so their English is limited, but it was not an issue for me. (The English email support was immediate and great.) The hotel is - as it is often the case with downtown three-star hotels - dated, but clean and there was no smells. Hot water was good and available all time (most important resource in some places). There is TV (but no safe for things). The stuff (same people as two years ago) was helpful. The computers with free internet on the second floor are bonus.  They have a stable staff of taxi drivers, licensed for the airport. They have - quite unusual for Lima! - a woman taxi driver, so lady travelers could specify in email they want to be meet by her at the airport. They take credit cards but you should be proactive in picking up the surcharge processing companies charge them (5%). Otherwise, prepare cash. 
The hotel is three blocks away from the Plaza de Armas, far enough rom noise - but keep in mind, there are bars around, noisy on weekends, as it always happens in downtown (if you want a good sleep and arrive on a weekend, stay away from downtown at all, those buildings are not acoustically isolated). All in all, stable and safe place.

Stable and helpful

Strongly outdated hotel, located comfortably in the center of Lima. Reasonably priced. Nice, non-English speaking staff.
Breakfast is terrible and very basic. It is served in a windy hut on top of the hotel by the most arrogant, unhelpful lady I have encountered during my travels in Peru.

We booked a double room for 3 nights throug Bookings at a price of 43 usd per night. On arrival they did not recognise our booking and asked a daily price of 58 usd per night. For this reason we decided to stay only one night.
The day after we checked out and left our luggage for a few hours. When we went to the hotel to get our luggage back they asked us to pay 12 usd for the commisson of "Bokings". We booked at a price of 43 usd/night and payed an overall of 70 usd!
Room and bathroom dirty, hot with smell of mold and noisy being faced on the road.
Very poor breakfast. Very bad general status of the Hotel.
The only positive note (it is very close to Plazas del Arma) is overhelmed by the above mentioned negativeness.
