El Delfin

We stayed at El Delfin for 4 nights in October 2017. When we arrived the welcome of the staff wasn't any good, the man was more preoccupied to look at his smartphone than talk to us and help us with our luggage, but at least they had our reservation (we had won a free 4-night stay). We were surprised at first to see that the hotel was so close to the road, but that is the case with all hotels in Zorritos, which can result being a little noisy, although nothing too bad as the sound of the loud ocean, which is also very close, numbs down most other noises. Despite a bad first impression, the staff turned out to be very nice and helpful in the end, although no one really showed us around the property, which is quite large. The place is a little run down, maybe because it was low season, but overall it is a very pleasant place to stay. The room was bright and airy, although the extra bed made it a bit cramp. The bed was comfortable, linen were clean. The bathroom was large and functional with a very nice hot and powerful shower. There is WiFi in the property, but it did not work very well in the room, although it worked fine on the terrace just outside. What makes the place so pleasant are the beautiful extensive gardens with an interesting variety of plants and birdlife, as well as the many chilling areas (terrace, pool area, dining room, beach). The pool was clean and fairly big and warm. The beach just a few meters away was set up with chairs and beds. The restaurant serves really excellent food, everything we tried was delicious and fairly priced. We did not have a fan or air con in our room, which was not a problem since we didn't visit during the hot summer months, but I do hope they supply a fan in summer, because otherwise it will get sweltering hot. All in all I would recommend a stay at El Delfin, but I would suggest to the owner to give the property a bit more maintenance, to polish off the edges (for example many of the roofs were not covered with palm leaves, which affected the aesthetic somewhat, and the wooden floor of the pool area could really do with some polishing).
