El Portal de San Lázaro

The location of the hotel was priceless. I walked everywhere, 6-to 10 minutes to the main square, 20 to 25 minutes to Mirador de Yanahuara, 10 to 15 minutes to Mercado San Camilo, 20 to 25 minutes to Universidad San Agustin de Arequipa. It is also surrounded by restaurants, local breweries, bakeries, and pharmacies (closed on Sunday). Despite all the activities to do around, the place is quiet because traffic is very limited (streets are closed) so the noise is very limited, ideal for working, writing, reading, etc. The people working in the hotel were just superb. I had some medical emergencies (my father suffers from neuropathy) and the staff was always there to facilitate hot water, extra blankets, etc. The place is spotless and clean. There are dust storms in Arequipa, but the cleaning personnel is always there to keep the place like new. The breakfast is more like a brunch, excellent selection of fruit, vegetables, eggs, ham, cereals, yogurt, etc. One of the best places I have stayed so far. Strongly recommended.
