We were really impressed by the price and location of this hostel, but you get what you pay for. The walls are incredibly thin and we could hear everything. Our room did not have an exterior window and we still heard street noise. Also the wifi was slow and spotty. HOWEVER, the redeeming quality of this place is the amazing staff! They were so kind as to let us check in early, store our bags late past check out, use their phone for local calls and their printer for our airline boarding passes. Don't come here looking for a five star hotel, but if you want to meet some great locals, this is the place to be!

Fine for One Night, Great Staff!

I suppose they have changed the name to Perutambo recently.
The location is close to train station they offer breakfast as early as 5:30 so good for someone who wants to visit Machu Picchu early morning.
The breakfast was basic.
The room did not have proper ventilation, the price of the place is pretty less to we were not expecting AC, but having a fan or window would have been good.

Was ok for a night stay

In addition to my recent comment I would like to mention: the bathroom is very poor, the small containers are rusty. The stay tube of the tap at the washbasin is very weak and warked and you should be careful to open it. Narrow space in the bathroom. No hair dryer! The plastic curtain at the shower is very old and stiff. The hanging cupboard is dusty and I didn’t want to store there any item. No table to sit. The floor  at the staircase is tricky with steps not easily to see, be careful not to stumble. The design of the floor cover even intensifies this. The hotel entrance is not always guarded in spite of the fact that it is located directly at the street (very frequented). everyone could have easy access. The entrance door is a sliding door not locked.

Me and my boyfriend spend a night in this hotel to relax before the tour in Machu Picchu. We arrived at 23 and someone of the hotel went to the train station to pick us up and bring us to the hotel. The personal was very nice and explained us where we could buy the ticket for Machu Picchu and for the bus and gave us some tips for the tour, which were very useful. The room was simple but clean and had everything we needed (towels, soap and wifi).
The breakfast was served from 5 am to 9 am and was really good. 
After Machu Picchu we returned to the hotel and asked if we could relax a bit before taking the train, it was 4 pm. And the girl of the hotel gave us a room for a couple of hours without making us pay. We appreciated a lot because we were really tired and we could sleep a bit before returning to Cusco. 

Simple and clean

Tambo Inn has some highs and lows...

Firstly, they pick you up at the train station and show you to the hotel... awesome. The staff were pretty hands-off.  Aside from check in we really didn't talk to anyone.

The location is great, right in the middle of town.  It's super easy to find because it is right beside the football stadium.  

The rooms were pretty basic but clean and comfortable.  There's ample hot water in the shower... also awesome.

The hotel has decent wifi, complementary (although very basic) breakfast, hot water all day for tea/coffee, a water cooler for filling water bottles with safe drinking water.

The big downside is the fact that the football stadium is used by the locals from 6:00 am to midnight.  I highly recommend wearing ear plugs especially if you plan to be up super early to visit Machu Picchu.  

I thought is was an ok stay in Aguas Calientes.  I'd stay there the next time I'm back.
