Nice hostel, nice atencion, wonderfull place with the best beach of the island. Completely recomended

I was not able to locate the hotel and as a result did not stay there, however I will say that when I tried to call them, they picked up but could not explain anything as there was not an English language speaker there on site.

The lost world

Really beautiful area, great swimming right out front. Very nice hosts.

Beautiful blue sea water

There is no electricity or water! Everything was really dirty, dead bugs and blqck hair on the bed sheet.
The owner of appartment was drunk when we came and when I tried to speak with him about awful accomodation conditions, he said to me "relax honey this is carribien coast, what you expect". He said you don't need bathroom here, whitch btw wasn't cleaned after previous guests.😷🤢
There is a lot of better places to stay at Boca del Toro, stay away from this one!

Awful accomodation and drunk owner!!!

Our room was dirty and full of sand and dead bugs, which won`t be such problem in regard to the location of this accomodation, which is directly on the coast. But!!! There was no electricity or water and the toilets and bed sheets haven`t been cleaned in a while. Also wi-fi was not working most of the time, since owner had a party in his nearby house, when we tried to talk with him he was obviously drunk.

Not to forget to mention that this is in the middle of nowhere, so you are depending on the local buses to get to the decent beach or town.

Don`t stay here, go to Bocas town!

Dirty rooms, drunk owner

+: The location is great, that's what you come here for, if the weather is nice. It's a short walk to Playa Estrellas and there is also some coral in the sea on the shore of the hotel.
There is a good restaurant closeby: Yarisnori, you need to go there before 5-6pm, then the lady lets you know till what time you can have dinner that night. Normally she closes at 6pm, but she keeps open longer for guests if you pre order your dinner.
Electricity was on all night. It wasn't too dark inside during the day when elektricity was off.
-: We didn't get any answers to questions we asked via booking.com (about bus times for example), neither there was a welcoming host. We were shown quickly the room, and they spoke only Spanish. Though they write they offer a trip to Playa Estrellas or bird island, we didn't hear any of that.
The cabins are old and need renovation, the mattress was also bad (sacking). The door between rooms was filled with bamboo sticks, one could see through a bit. There was little space to put your stuff. The shower was cold water only, and just a tube, no showerhead. Very basic kitchen. You sure don't come here for the accomodation itself. It's expensive for the state it is in.

Great location, accomodation needs renovation

Our stay at Cabanas Turisticas Estefany in Boca del Drago near Bocas del Toro was just what the doctor ordered!  No traffic, on the beach, running tap water direct from a spring (I saw the source), plenty of help.  No hurry, just relaxation.  Playa Estrella is only a 20 minute walk away, along a very pristine virgin beach to a spot without waves, calm, with beach chairs, food and drink.
Ask for Chino. You can get there from Bocas del Toro on a bus for $2.50 per person.

Tranquil Beach Living

We arrived to the cabanas with a positive attitude even after hearing and reading some negative reviews. 

We walked up to reception to find no one there or anywhere to be found. After 15mins of walking around we were finally met by the owner. It was then we were informed that the kitchen would not be serving lunch or dinner for the next few days. This was highly disappointing as I had emailed ahead of time asking about the restaurant and was not informed of any closures. The reason this is more then inconvenient is because there is no other options near by for dinner, only a $15 taxi ride each way into town if you are wanting to eat at night. We shook it off and decided we would go into town and buy food and cook in the kitchen they provided. 

On the way to our room we were shown the kitchen we could use. Don't be mistaken by the photos, the kitchen shown is their kitchen and they would not let us use this kitchen. So the one on offer had dirty pans and dishes everywhere and was topped off by having the family chicken sitting on the bench top. We found this too unhygienic to cook in so resorted to meals that only required hot water. Yum. 

So then we got to our room. Three of us in a private room. Look the room was fine and bunk bed with a double on the bottom. It was the bathroom more so the shower which was the issue. The shower only let out 3 trickling lines of cold water which made it near to impossible to clean yourself. 

We were also informed that we would only have electricity in our room from 6pm-11:30pm each night. The room and bathroom were dark during the day and not having the option of turning on a light made it quite difficult. The other issue was charging. We are travelers with phones iPads and cameras and only being able to charge for a few hours at night was more in inconvenient, especially as one of the two powerpoints was occupied by the fan. The fan that was very necessary in this small room; but as it was turned off around 11:30pm it was a very uncomfortable sleep from then on. 

What also didn't help the sleeping situation was the fact that the roof above you was the level aboves floor which had gaps so light flooded the room even after you had your lights off. Same with the neighbours on either side as the walls had sections of just bamboo leaving plenty of gaps for light and the mosquitoes. 

Now please if you decide to stay in this establishment be very aware of the mosquitoes. They are everywhere! And the gaps in the walls roof windows and door give them every opportunity to get into your room and you are almost scared to fall asleep knowing you will be attacked throughout the night. 

This was my experience, I'm sure that people have much nicer ones, but if I was you, don't risk it. It's not a nice hotel/cabanas and it is in the middle of nowhere which is a huge issue when it comes to meals as I'm sure the restaurant will probably be closed.
