We stayed for 1 night. It was enough for 2 adults and 3 year old kid.Tha room was spa is and clean.The hostel has a big kitchen with everything provided.We made our food in that kitchen and comfortably had our food outside the sitting area with beautiful sunny sky.Sogndal is a small city.Walking distance you have supermarket and nice places to walk around.I would recommend  this place to families and to anyone.I would come back to this place.our stay was with breakfast and thay was good as well.

Had a great time, clean rooms, fast internet. Spent a few days in a room close to the road but because they where building a bridge there was a bit of noise in the morning. Later moved to one of the houses in the back and it was quiet as the grave. Super close to the gas station for free coffee with the magic norwegian coffee mug!

My friend and I are travelling through Norway and after a very wet day Glacier walking decided to call it ane stop in Sogndal for a night to dry our tent and clothes. 
Sogndal was a busy place and many places were fully booked, we managed to get a room at Sogndal Vandrerhjem.
The welcome was friendly and warming, nothing was to much trouble for the lovely girl on reception. The last room wasn't ready but give her 10 mins and it was cleaned, new bed linen and ready for us. The room was spacious with a private bathroom and hot shower. Washing and drying facilities were plenty and free of charge. The drying room was ample so we could dry our tent with no bother to others. Breakfast was included and had a fantastic selection. Being Coeliac I often struggle with places to eat especially when food included in the price but this place there was no issue as they catered for gluten free, lactose free etc. 
Overall our stay was Very very good!! 
I would highly recommend checking availability at this place prior to others in Sogndal.

Comfortable hostel, very good position with view on the fjord and in walking distance from the town centre, staff are nice and helpful, rooms very nice, clean and spacious, well furnished, good sleep quality, good breakfast.

My husband and I  did our own 9 day self drive. Since Norway is expensive some of our accommodations I selected were hostels. Sogndal is actually quite a sizable town with  several restaurants and grocery stores. The hostel  was in a good location - easy to find and within walking distance to town. The room was very basic with two twin beds ( very comfortable) , two chairs also very comfortable and a sink so you could do some basic toiletries/grooming in your own room. Wifi was good. Sharing shower and toilets is no big deal. There was never a traffic jam. Parking was no problem. Staff was friendly and helpful at check-in time. Breakfast buffet was varied enough to appeal to a variety of tastes. We did not go away hungry. This is a good stop if you are traveling between Bergen and Geiranger.

800 kroner for 2 beds- about the cheapest you'll find in these parts of Norway. Very basic accomkdations- 2 single sized beds (pretty comfy), 1 pillow each, couple of closets with about 25 wire shelves per person, sink in the room & a shared shower/toilet. There is a common room with a kettle & a shared kitchen. **Bonus-good simple style breakfast-coffee was good & my wife made a delicious waffle.

The good:
The room: Large, clean, comfortable.
Kitchen: Fully equipped shred kitchen with place to sit and eat your meal.
Breakfast: Good variety of food.
Cleanliness: Very clean.
Comfort: Comfy beds, excellent private shower (you have to wait a few minutes for hot water)
Value for money: Great.
Location: Very good.
Stuff: Very friendly and helpful.
Free WiFi: Good bandwidth with strong signal.
Parking: Plenty and free.

The bad:
Some of the rooms are located on higher floors with no elevator.

Spaceous well equiped rooms, WIFI all over the place, nice modern central building with an amazing breakfast buffet. The place is close to a major road but the quality of the building and the windows is such that you can't here any noice from the road traffic. 

Great place for a stay-over when travelling through Norway. Sogndal itself isn't an interesting place.

Located just a few minutes drive from town, we chose this accommodation as a convenient base from which to visit nearby Austdalsbreen glacier in Jostedalsbreen National Park.
 
Having stayed at such 'summer hotels' before we had our reservations about staying here, however, aside from the price, which we felt excessive, we were overall happy with the accommodation.

The rooms were quite modern and large, and while the beds were pretty narrow, they were actually quite comfortable. Plenty of space is provided for luggage and clothes, and the bathroom was also large, clean and modern.
 
Breakfast is included in the price and is served in a dining area with a nice view of the water. The selection on offer at breakfast included a selection of cheeses and cold meats, boiled eggs, cereals, yoghurt and breads.

Service was quite friendly and efficient, however, we felt a check in time from 5pm was pretty outrageous and should be reconsidered, especially considering the cost of the room.

Overall we quite liked Sogndal Vandrerhjem, however feel that the price is excessive for what you get, and that service hours could be longer. That said we would stay here again as it's still currently a better option than most in the area.
