Peppertree Lodge is a very friendly and well-run backpackers located just a few mins walk from Paihia Beach and the town centre. As a family with two teenage kids we took one of the rooms with a double, bunk beds and an en-suite. It was a small room with a tiny bathroom, but we didn't spend much time there as the communal facilities were really great with plenty of room to sit, eat and relax. The manager, Josh was really friendly and helpful. There were a couple of sit-on kayaks that were available to guests to borrow FOC and we used these to explore the bay. Generally we found the place to be pretty quiet at night, despite being right opposite some of the noisiest bars, but I guess this was because we had a room at the back !

Great spot for budget travellers

Spent the second part of my stay in Paihia here and it was excellent. Front desk guy was very welcoming and friendly and they have a lovely little dog! 
Site is very quiet, neat and tidy and the room design was on point! Apparently it had a fresh makeover!
Made use of the kayaks out in the bay and had some awesome food at the restaurant directly opposite.
Loved my time in Paihia - will be back.

Lovely spot in a lovely town!

Spent a good week here on a trip from Auckland, excellent distance from the beach and the owners dog is just so so cute. Reception were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were immaculate. My new go-to in staying in Paihia! 

Adorable hostel

Affordable, last minute accommodation. Great location across from all the local bars.

Lovely area to sit outside and also great and relaxing lounge area inside. Well-kept and clean. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom too. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom for one night. There was a little noise from the next rooms, but it was Saturday so it is quite understandable. Great position and relaxed vibes.

Cozy accommodation 

I stayed at Peppertree lodge with 4 friends and it is the first time in my life that a hostel has made me/us feel so welcome and comfortable. Before arriving Sian (hostel owner) had already been amazing and made sure we could get a room even though we would be arriving late. She welcomed us all and pretty much knew us on first name basis at arrival. 
During the weekend we could always talk to them, we could ask for advice or even just have a casual chat, they always made us feel like they had time and the vibe of the hostel was very relaxed.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and I would highly recommend this hostel.

The kindest hostel owners

I stayed at Peppertree lodge twice. I found the owner really friendly, there are free kayaks to hire and the location is perfect. It is only a 5 minute walk to the beach and not too far from the town centre. The dorm rooms, bathrooms and kitchen were all very clean. The whole place just has a really nice vibe. Would definitely stay again :)

Great Backpackers

we spent 2 nights there.  The location of the hotel is excellent . comfort is really good.  Rooms are large and well equipped. 
The staff is really helpfull and explain a lot of things about area. 
Really I recommend this place to stay. 

Very good hotel

It was a pleasant stay, the owner is a kind person and taken personal care regarding the upkeep of the premises, so no complaint.

Room was exceptionally clean. Never expected it in budget hotel. Will definitely stay again when I get chance.
