Within easy walking distance of the town, and also well positioned to trek onto Abel Tasman country, this modern clean motel ticked all the boxes…parking no prob., rooms big and airy, self-catering needs well met, etc....would highly recommend

They stored our bikes and luggage so we could look around town following checkout.

Rooms spotless and well resourced for best possible stay. Plenty of eateries cafes etc within walking distance and Short drive to Able Tasman Park.

Perfect position

Great units, lovely hosts, super clean and tidy , very enjoyable stay. Close by to restaurants, cafes and bars. We had an upstairs unit and a corner downstairs. Well equipped.our motorcycles were kept safe and clean tucked away in a garage which was super cool . Thank you ☺️

Great Stay, Great Hosts

Very happy with the location with access to Abel Tasman and within walking distance to town/restaurants/ stores.  Spacious motel room & nice little patio that faced a side street but was blocked by bushes.  Limited noise from upper room above.  Was about 40 minutes from Nelson airport.  About 30 minutes to Kauteriteri.  We even drove up to Collingwood and was very  doable.  
The manager was very friendly.  Room was serviced daily, if requested.  Laundry facilities were easily available.  

Convenient 

Booked two rooms for four people. Messaged the 'host' (very loose term) two weeks before we arrived to ensure we had four beds. Received an email telling me that one room had two beds but the other room had a double bed that 'could be made into two singles.'  Called and spoke to them again four days before we arrived to confirm. When we arrived at 2pm for checkin was told the room had been cancelled because my "credit card is invalid". I booked ten places through booking.com during our 15 day trip and had no trouble with them or with fuel stops and meals. I hadn't even produced my credit card. I suspect rearranging the room was just too difficult. He did suggest I could try "somewhere else in town".  I contacted the information centre and my story was not unfamiliar to them. When I found another place to stay I told my story, again, not an unfamiliar story.
We did find two alternative places for the next two nights both of which were fantastic and cheaper than the Nautilus.
As far as the rest of the review questions go, I didn't get a chance to find out!
Fifteen days travelling around NZ and this was the only place to let us down and the only person I wouldn't want to deal with again. Pretty good odds really

Don't waste your time

Motueka is not an interesting spot to settle for 2-3 days - but if other places in nearby towns are full this motel is quite OK.
Rooms are spacious, bathrooms fine. A well functioning kitchenette. WiFi OK. Rather noisy in daytime - but not at night, as there is very little traffic on the highway passing by very close to the motel.
Owner very friendly and informative.

Actually better than expected

We arrived very wet and muddy after a day of cycling in torrential rain. We were a group of 10 cyclists doing The Great Taste Trail.  Our host was so friendly and helpful. He dried all our gear - jackets, cycle wear, gloves and shoes! He used a dehumidifier in his garage over night and even cleaned all the mud off our shoes. We were so grateful. We highly recommend staying at the Nautilus Motel.

Amazing Host!

Stayed 6 years ago and now again in 2022. Beds still comfy as. Good stop over motel, kitchenette is very small but enough to cook/ heat a meal. Sky tv and flat screen, wee balcony to enjoy. Thanks again to the owners. Maybe time to update the DVD collection to Netflix?

Great bed

I agree with the other reviews that this is a very clean, comfortable and well provisioned motel (coffee bag supplied with plunger!). The bedrooms and living areas are very spacious and the outdoor patio with sun umbrella was a lovely space to sit at (when it was cool enough!). The owners were very helpful, storing our bike, supplying bbq utensils when we wanted to grill, supplying beach towels, and making it easy to do a load of washing. We are a family of 5 with teenagers and found the wifi patchy. The kitchenettes are tiny and it was a challenge for us to cook or do dishes for so many. This motel is also close to the main road through Motueka and is noisy.
