On the website I booked it on, a famous booking site dot com, it said they speak Dutch and English. They don't speak English, but they do speak German which was good for me. It is more of a big house with rooms they hire out, lets start with the room. It was a good room with double bed, and separate shower room with toilet and sink. Plenty of handwash, toilet roll, etc. The room was very clean and comfortable, and had a good nights sleep. The TV was probably 4 inches and I couldn't find the remote.

It claims to have a bar, which it does. However I went to the bar, and the lady came over from the "front room" area of the bar, and gave me a beer, then I wanted another and had to disturb her. When I wanted a 3rd she was nowhere to be seen so I went to bed. 

The location is ok, it is a ten minute walk into the town where there are lots of bars and restaurants, and other shops, etc. I don't know where the free parking is, but I parked on the road which is free from 20:00 to 10:00 so I had to pay 1.70 for an hour from 19:00 to 20:00 right outside the hotel. Easy solution.

The Wifi worked perfectly in the room and at the bar, and you can stream videos no problem. The breakfast was good, you get coffee orange juice, a banana, yoghurt, lots of bread and cheese and ham, but nothing hot. 

Overall for the price it is a really good place to stay, but I stay in hotels in Europe all the time, and I like to go down in the evening for a meal and a few drinks whilst using the laptop in a busy bar. This is what it is not so will not stay again, but if you wanted to visit Valkenburg it is perfect if you are on a budget.

Felt like I was a guest at someones house, BUT, good price and good room

Don't know where the name "hotel" comes from as this is just a house that is renting out rooms.
Nevertheless it was clean and comfortable and breakfast was ok.

If you have problems going up stairs then look for another place, other wise this is ok.

It is a house not a Hotel

stayed here for three nights with my mother who had stayed here 50 years ago and we were not dissapointed.
booking was very easily done on-line and we were welcomed very warmly.
downstairs they still have the old bar wich is very cosy looking and it is where you have your breakfast in the morning and if booked can also eat at night.
lovely owners with cute dog flossie who is very well behaved much better than my own dogs!
room was a double suite and basic but fine very clean, good bed,ok pillows fine bathroom.
breakfast was the usual dutch fare bread,bread rolls,currant buns,breakfast cake,boiled egg,cold meat platter,cheese,butter,margarine,jams,yogurt,orange juice,coffee or tea.
check in check out was very quick.
location was for us good because we travelled by train and it is near the station and a 10 minute walk from the centre.

lovely stay

We booked 3 consequetive nights on-suite double room on the first floor, confirmed early morning upon arrival. Got there when the landlady said she had only a small room with shower on the other side of the hallway at the back of the house on the ground-floor for the first night, thereafter we could have an on-suite on the first floor. She didn't want to reduce the price. When suggested that we book in elsewhere for the first night and come back for the 2nd and 3rd night, she said that it's not an option. We didn't take up her offers naturally. Not recommendable as not reliable.

Staff friendly, rooms clean with good food including fabulous continental breakfast with coffee to die for and close to the centre of Valkenburg.  Flockie the 5 month Papillion is an added bonus
