Stayed here end of 2019  for a few days at the end of the holiday.
Sarita was very warm and welcoming, and a wonderful hostess. 
When during dinner she starts telling stories, you are guaranteed to stay longer then you had planned, and before you know it your whole itinerary for the next few days is filled with interesting new locations to explore. 
She is also a wonderful cook, and likes to bring all kind of people together.

A few notes about the location:
+ Very well reachable by (public) transport and taxi, as it is next to the ringroad.
+ Easy walk down the street to the historic centre
+ Close to all necessary shops and services.

- The rooms at the front of the house are noisy, day and night, due to the ringroad.

Sarita is the most wonderful hostess, and makes you feel so incredibly welcome. As soon as we arrived we were welcomed into the kitchen and sat with other guests helping to make momos. 
Very comfortable beds, clean rooms, and hot water in the shower.

A home from home

We came to Kathmandu for a tennis tournament and spent 7 nights at Sanu’s House.
We simply felt like home.
Sarita our host is a stream of kindness. She cooks great, too!
You’ll enjoy the many cups of Chiya and the daily made fresh bread, together with a delicious honey. You’ll also enjoy vegetables from their garden, seasoned perfectly.
We made momos together, one of the highlights of the stay 😋
It is a very good value for money.
The rooms are basic but very clean. The ring road is noisy, so avoid if you have sensible ears. But we didn’t mind it at all - we slept well 😴 
You have a very basic momo stall at the corner where you can enjoy world class momos, 10 pcs for 80 $cents.
She will come with you to catch the right tuktuk or bus, she’s so nice!
It’s a 10 minutes walk to Patan Durbar square, and a 30 minutes ride with traffic to Thamel.

A full week at home!

Sarita, Biju and all the family were just sweethearts. So helpful and caring.

Sarita's famous morning bread is yummy and a highlight of the day :).

The house was always super clean and the rooms, too.

I stayed three times here for a few days and couldn't recommend it more if you are looking for a quite place out on the outskirts of the busy town. 
The house is located right by the busy ring road but I couldn't hear anything as the room was not facing the street.
It is a family house but you get all the space you need, your privacy is fully respected here. Whenever I had a question I would always be helped and given advice.

I think this Sarita's house is great for trackers, but also people staying longer, for work and looking for quite environment. As it is literally situated on the wide busy ring road you get buses and transport everywhere within minutes. 
If you come to be in the busier area with lots of shops and sightseeing, better stay in Patan or Thamel area.

I felt very welcome here and looked after.

Such a beautiful family

Serita is the most wonderful host - very kind and full of advice on how to get to different places. Her family was extremely welcoming and the food was excellent - nothing quite matched it for the rest of the trip. The bedroom was lovely - and there were plenty of thick blankets for the night and hot water! Just had the best time here and if we had time we would have liked to stay for longer!

The best place to stay on your first night in Kathmandu

I stayed at Sanu’s house for one month, enjoying the delicious authentic Newari food I couldn’t find in the restaurants, celebrating 3 festivals with the family, and meeting lots of short term and long term guests. After getting sick in Kathmandu, Sanu’s house was my haven. The owner Serita always offered suggestions of what to do, where to go, how to get there, and always kept a nice smile and saying “what to do” cheerfully when faced with a problem. 
Three months later I still crave her food and serene company! Everyone that stayed also left with a heavy heart. It was a place to sit down and share meals and pass around dishes, and share stories. This particular accommodation was a highlight in itself.

A haven in Kathmandu Valley

Sarita, the owner, was very kind and helpful throughout my stay. The bed was very comfy, and the food was was really good! I enjoyed my stay here very much and recommend it. It is not in city center, but the walk is quite short (10-15 minutes), and the lovely hospitality is definitely worth it in my view :)

We are currently enjoying our second stay in two months at Sanu House. They operate two branches, both in Patan, on the south side of Kathmandu. The Gwarko branch, run by a friendly and cheerful proprietor, Sarita, is well organized and popular with travellers. The Noku branch where we stayed is run by Sarita's niece, Bridisa, and her husband, Pragya. It is newer and feels more like a homestay than a hotel or hostel. Rooms are ample, impeccably clean, and the solar hot water works well. 

Our hosts made us feel like part of their family. Pragya speaks fluent English and both he and Bridisa are extremely helpful and attentive. We enjoyed wonderful home-cooked meals on their terrace and the warmth of their friendship quickly dispelled the winter chill of November and December in Kathmandu.

We chose Sanu precisely because it is located outside the heaving tourist hub of Thamel and we have been very pleased with its wonderful family atmosphere and authentic location in a residential neighbourhood. 

We are delighted to give Sanu House our highest personal recommendation.

Sarita made the best food and tea.
The energy in her house makes you calm down after a day in Kathmandu. Everything is really clean and the rooms are really nice and comfortable.
We stayed a long time (more than 4 weeks) during an internship and it was the best HOME we could find!
Sarita is the most helpful person. You can ask her anything about the environment, she will always help you, where you can find the best places and she will always tell you, if there is any festival or party on the street.
The whole Sanus House Family will make you feel like home and you will always get a huge smile! :-) IT WAS AMAZING! Dhanyabad :-)
