We found this Riad by chance. It’s now named Riad Dar Abi (formerly named Dar Sabon), and decided to move and stayed four days of our five days in Essaouira. What we liked most is the clean, good size room with large bathroom with long, hot shower, comfortable bed, in addition to good breakfast and of course convenient location, walking distance to center of the Medina, market, and elsewhere. 

We were very thankful to our host, Fatima, who had made every effort to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. She’s a very resourceful, friendly, hospitable, and truly kind person. We’ll miss you Fatima. ❤️

Staying in the medina in Essaouira is not as exciting as in Marrakech, however, this BnB is close to the restaurants and not too far from the beach. They don't have someone monitoring reception at all hours so they give you keys to the riad and your room. The room was small but the bathroom was quite large.

The house is very cozy and has a cool rooftop terrace. Everything was fresh and clean. We had a lovely breakfasts and dinner prepared by our host which was really appreciated, very nice traditional foods. She made us feel very welcome!

After I booked this hotel, the host sent me some information and teach me how to get to the hotel. I really appreciated it (too easy to get lost in Morocco..)

The hotel was easy to find. Around 5 mins walking from the supratours bus station.

My room was big, clean and very comfortable. 

Host was very warm, friendly, helpful.
The day I leave Essaouira, I missed the supratours bus. The host helped me to call the CTM bus to see if it is full or not. And teach me how to go to CTM bus station. So sweet!!!

- are looking for a very cosy and housely Riad
- would like to have a great breakfast in the morning on the lovely roofterrace
- would like to learn some great places to eat and drink in town
- be within walking distance to the market, harbor and beach
- do enjoy good wifi

Dar Sabon is managed by a lovely lady who is very kind and available. However, our staying in the Dar was not perfect due to fact that there was no heating and the weather was freezing, despite this fact, we managed to sleep well as there was an extra blanket available. Besides, what really bothered me was the fact that the bedding wan not fresh or clean. When I went to bed I realized there was send on it, what made me wonder if someone else had slept on it after walking on the beach and not having had a shower before going to bed. I had to get up and try to clean up the send when I realized the bedding was in fact dirty. I really didnt like the feeling of sharing bedding with strangers. So my suggestion to Dar Sabon: Please, customers deserve to sleep to sleep on a clean bed. Unfortunately, this wasnt the first time it happened to me in Morroco. While staying in a chic hotel, I found blond hair on the pillow, which was definitely not mine. Before booking, just make sure you will get fresh and clean bedding in case you mind.
