We felt so lucky to stay for a night in this beautiful home. We enjoyed mint tea and then sat on the rooftop at sunset to listen to the call to prayer and watch the city end the day,  and we had an excellent meal prepared by Mohamed and his wife. The wifi worked well, everything was very clean, the AC kept us cool overnight on the hottest days of July, and it was impressive how cool the courtyard stayed despite 110 degree temperatures outside. 

If you stay here, remember you are staying somewhere historic and well-preserved. It won't be identical to all the comforts of a chain hotel, but it will be a beautiful, peaceful, and quiet experience. Like everywhere in the medina, it is a bit hard to find, so make sure you pay attention to the directions before arriving, and don't be afraid to hire a porter to help get your luggage there. Also, be aware there are staircases to get to the bedroom and the rooftop. If you don't mind the stairs, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful views inside and out. 

It felt wonderful to stay here, both for the ambiance and for the kindness of the host. I highly recommend it!

Experience a real home in the heart of Fes

Everything was amazing !
The service, food and the accomodation was outstanding. I've stayed in many places across the world and only a few have make feel like here.

I just want to thank all the staff there, specially Bader. He was just amazing during our stay there.

Amazing

this place is run by good people who make up for any deficiencies.  We prepaid and our reservation was lost but Mohamed accommodated us quickly and figured out the problem later.  The rooms are spacious but could still use a little work, like sealing the doors to the rooms and adding hooks and such to the bathrooms.  There is wifi and Mohamed is very responsive via Whatsapp.  Fatima made for us a breakfast that was simple and nourishing.  

Apparently most people reserve through Airbnb.  Try to contact them ahead of time for recommendations on reaching here once arriving in Fes.  In general you should take a taxi to Bab Guissa then hire a porter (about 20 dh) to take you and your bags to reach Dar Rbab.  It is not easy to find on your own.

Not perfect but

We traveled as a group of 7 friends, and we stayed there for 2 nights.
We arrived at 10 pm at the train station, and they came to pick us up for a good price. 
After we got there Mohamed(the host, hope the name is correct), stayed with us about 2 hours, offered us a cup of tea, or more:) and answered all the question we had about Fez and Morocco.
The rooms were really clean and cozy. The photos do not show the really beauty of this riad. 
To get the most of the day we stayed in Fez, the offerd us a GREAT guide, he took us in the main places to visit. If you want to try all the traditional plates of Morocco, he will take you to great places, on the budget you tell him, just try to be open minded. So, accept the guide!
Special thanks to the lady that made the dinner and the breakfast, best food, and the lady (Fatima) really polite and nice.
So, if you have to chose betwen 2 riads, pick this one!

Best riad in Fes

Pleasant stay , breakfast is excellent! Nice room ! Location is not the best choice however it’ gives you challenges to figure out the intricate alleyways system in Fes . SMohammed is very pleasant and picked me up at the gate of Médina @ 10pm , otherwise I would have lost in the night

The Riad has been carefully restorated without loosing the cultural significance.

We stayed for 2 nights and they have just renovated the roof terace. 


Authentic Riad Experience

I enjoyed my stay at Dar Rbab though as a girls traveling on our own, I need to say I felt a little scared staying in the Médina in Fes. The alleys are complicated and winding, and makes little sense. After reading reviews online, I took the advice to hire porters (20MAD) to carry our luggage as well as guide us to the Dar when we first got to Fes. It would have been impossible to locate the house on our own. 

Our room was on the second floor (2 comfortable single beds), the bathroom was huge albeit a little dark (it was painted black with only 1 light). We were served breakfast everyday and Mohammed (employee) was always contactable via WhatsApp to answer our questions. I think it cost us about €58 for 2 nights. 

On our first night at the Dar, Mohammed recommended us a restaurant for dinner. They were able to sent someone to guide us to and fro the restaurant. This was much appreciated. This was a tourist restaurant though serving set meals at 100MAD. There was only the two of us as customers that evening. 

On our second night, we requested for dinner at the house. Mohammad personally heated our food and served us. The three-course meal (salad, main course, desert) was €12. 

We also hired a one-day guide through the Dar. It cost us 400MAD. The guide (who claimed it was the first time that the Dar hired him as a guide) was alright though he did brought us to a lot of shops for shopping (pottery, jewelry, pharmacy, tannery, embroidery, and whatnot) and spent very little time explaining history of buildings or attractions to us. Also, he brought us to expensive restaurants (150MAD per meal) claiming that those cheaper restaurants served food that were cooked for many days and warned us about getting stomach upset. So yes, I can’t help feeling he was out to earn a commission. 

The guide also offered us a one day tour to Volubilis at 800MAD (while making us promise that we won’t tell the Dar about his offer 😏). Some complicated politics and money-making there. 

Service by Mohammad was great. He allowed us to leave our luggage in the Dar after we had checked out as we were waiting to catch a night bus. When we left, again we hired a porter with the help of Mohammad (20MAD) as we did not know how to get back to the main gate of the Médina on our own and also did not want the hassle of lugging our heavy luggages uphill. 


Nicely decorated room and house 

I had a wonderful time in this cozy riad in the middle of the Medina of Fez. The building is very old and has a lot of character. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, including air-co. The bathrooms are very originally organised and have a cave-like atmosphere. In the middle of the riad is the central meeting place with a large table for breakfast and diner. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Mohamed runs the place and speaks very good English, he will gladly help you with everything during your stay in Fez. I would definitely visit again!
