Hostel Mauritania

This hostel is a little gem - its a typical moroccan riad, all blue and is georgeous. Stayed in a private double bedroom, it was quite small but as you only sleep there it was plenty. It has quite a bigrooftop with a little view of the city as well as a smaller balcony. Very easy going vibe, nice and helpful staff who are happy to help with everything you need. 

Really nice and calm hotel with a panoramic view and great location, I really enjoyed the traditional breakfast prepared by Musthapha with the great morning view,
the team were always available for help, they guide me to plan for my program, and to buy morrocan sweets and jben.
I had a room with shared toilet, Good for solo travellers and limit budget

Good  Hotel

Pros: comfortable bed, very helpful staff (although.. only the guy that works at night). 

Cons: We booked a room at Hostelworld and somehow it was already rent out. So maybe give them a call upfront. 

There's a kind of an 'overflow' room, I think. It has the look and feel of a bunker. 
The room we actually booked, was a street facing one. For two nights in a row we didn't catch any sleep, because of the backpackers hanging in front of the hostel next door yelling at each other,  or the drunk guy from the shop screaming into the street. If you're ok with going to sleep at 1:00 pm, no worries then. Otherwise I'd suggest you choose a quieter place. 

Not a place for quiet nights

Location is great as it's located inside the medina.

Reception staff were not that accommodating and didn't even have change for our money when we paid the room.

Our room was cozy with the right amount of blankets and space.

We had a small table, bed, a small window to the outside and a bigger one towards the inside hallway area.

The heater from the shared bathroom wasn't always working and the shared toilet was cramped but filled with toilet paper.

The hostel, especially the neighboring room, smelled of weed all day and it seemed okay with the staff.

We will definitely stay somewhere else next time.

Good location but smoking weed is tolerated

I booked my stay via Booking.com but the room I had booked was not available the first night, the second night I was shifted, but unfortunately was bitten badly by bed bugs, which brought about a severe allergic reaction that was to taint the rest of my visit to Morocco. When I alerted the management I was shifted to another room, and they were very conscientious to immediately eradicating the bed bug. The management although they paid for the treatment cream I needed for reducing the allergic reaction, needed some convincing before they did so (which was only 40MAD), and never offered to reimburse me for that night. They did offer to wash my clothing but one item got lost!!!!! On my departure day, after checking out from my room,  I left my gear in the open courtyard, which was the suggested space from management. I came back to find one of my bags had been shifted, and later after leaving the hostel I discovered two notes, one for 50 Euro and the other for 50 British Pound had been stolen. Overall I found the staff friendly and helpful for the basic needs of the traveller, like orientation, maps, but for the unfortunate experiences I had, they were passive in compensating, repairing or acknowledging any responsiblity.

Things to be aware of

We stayed in Hotel Mauritania for 3 nights. It was very close to the main square. The room was really cold and there was no heater. We found bugs on the bed  which made us feel worry during our stay. The shared bathrooms were really small.
