Accommodation Tomcuk

We were going to go for one of their single rooms with balconies but these were already booked, so decided to go for a whole floor to ourselves (bedroom, lounge, kitchen, shower room and own covered balcony/outside seating area). Have to say, at not much more cost, this was a good decision, as it felt like we had room to spread out and enjoy the facilities and the lovely views across the peaceful Boka Bay out front. We had 10 days there, which meant we could use this as a base to explore not just Kotor but the whole region. We had hired a car, so we were allowed to park up on their hardstanding at the front, plus we were able to avail ourselves of the choice of bikes and cycle into Kotor (5km approx) or further afield around the Boka Bay (mostly flat roads, so not strenuous, except cycling along Kotor main street!). We were made to feel very welcome by our lovely host, who lives onsite and she made sure we had everything we needed, was very approachable and spoke good English as well. The apartment is a little dated but perfectly fine. Nice to have washing machine, dishwasher, oven, fridge and sandwich toaster, as well as coffee making machine. Nice touches included the complimentary bottle of Montenegrin wine left for us in the lounge, copious supply of coffee for the coffee maker and cute 'swan folded' towels as a nice welcome gesture. Towels were changed every few days and sheets once a week. Parking was going to be 5 Euros per day but we got that waived, as we were staying for 10 days. We weren't sure what the check in procedure was, as there are no signs pointing to where the owner lives, so we rang on the buzzer at the top of the steps on the right side of the apartment and that proved to be the right place. Slight problem with the front door locks, as the handles seemed to have fallen off so couldn't get in one day. Soon rectified by owner who sent her husband down to let us in! To summarise, this is a nice relaxing place, good value for money, friendly and engaging owner and it is far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Kotor town and the Dobrota strip near there to be quieter and unwind fully. Take advantage of the sitting/swimming area they own just by the water's edge across the little road it's located on. Do just watch out for cats! Lots around and they'll find their way in if you leave the doors open and unattended. We came home and found we'd accidentally locked one in for the day, so he must have sneaked in while we were going out that morning!!
