Had a great time here, and could organize everything I needed. The staff helped me to organize my tour in Mongolia and provided me great advices and help. The location is cool, it's super clean, and the breakfast is very good. Thank you!

Best Hostel in UB

We had a fantastic time on our three day tour of 'wonders of UB'. Doljmaa was so helpful and prompt in her email replies when we were puting the trip together. She was also there to greet us on our first day of tour.

Our driver Ziggi and guide Mando were amazing! We were there in the quiet season so it was just me and my boyfriend on the tour and we got on so well with them. Mando was very interesting and knowledgeable, and Ziggi was such a good driver, and even changed the cam-belt on the side of the road in less than half an hour. Hero! They took such good care of us.

The tour itself was fantastic! The camel and horse ride were fantastic as were the temples. The nomadic people were the highlight. They were so welcoming and staying with them seeing the way they live made it a real adventure.  

Loved every minute! If you like adventure then these tours are incredible! Highly recomend!

Amazing tour

Clean big rooms, comfy beds. Great wifi. Clean bathrooms with hot showers. Nice kitchen facility. Very attentive receptionist who goes out of their way to help you. Doljmaa is very attentive and drops by to make sure we're taken care of. Went on a tour with Sunpath and was blown away by how well organised the entire trip is. Great driver, fantastic car and cheerful guides. Sunpath has a big huge thumbs up from me. I am touched by the hospitality received!

Great Stay, Great Owner

Great Gobi tour, I did the 6 day, she has additional options as well. 
They picked me up from the bus station and took me to the tour (my night bus was late and they waited for me)
Our guide was so nice he was fairly knowledge about  history and more about  the traditional stuff, spoke good English  and although  young he was very respectful and mature. 
The guest house  is spacious,  very clean and very accommodating.
I was able to leave my things without a charge when I went to western Mongolia by myself,  some places won't  do that for you. 
Highly recommended! 

Loved the  Gobi tour and the hostel was also great

I did the 8-day Gobi + Terelj tour. Bujka was such a hardworking, kind and knowledgeable guide! Our Mongolian Wikipedia. He was always up for joining us for card games late in the evening despite having worked hard all day, teaching us Mongolian games like Ankle Bones and answering all our questions with positivity and patience. He took care of me when I felt unwell on our last day, and he stayed with me when I struggled to climb the sand dunes to make sure I was okay and to encourage me, give me water, or go back down if I choose (I saw other guides run up the dunes leaving their groups struggling behind!)

The tour required LOTS of driving, about 4-5 hours per day, so be prepared. Bring a book or something to do for the days where you are waiting for it to get cooler before you can go do your sightseeing item for the day. Not much interaction with the nomadic families most days (this is to be expected, the language barrier is really hard to break, even with a guide. Practice 4-5 sentences beforehand) EXCEPT for the family and kids in the Khugnu Khaan Mountains who are WONDERFUL and inviting and inclusive, and it's worth booking the trip just to spend the evening with them!! 

Also, excellent email communication in the months prior to arriving in UB. 

When I had a small concern about one item on the tour, Doljmaa immediately and professionally helped me find a solution. I felt very very happy and valued.

In terms of the hostel itself, it's close to the main square, has clean amazingly HOT showers, laundry and wifi. No complaints at all. If you can, book ahead to get the "single double bed room with shared bathroom"... it's so nice, more like a hotel room than hostel! Only a few more $$ than a dorm room so why not do it?? For me it was really important to rest well between my tours especially since my stomach was a little unwell and so this room was amazing.

Great tour; great place to stay

My friends and I stayed a couple of nights at the beginning and end of our trip in Mongolia at the Sunpath Hostel.  Although it was on the top floor of the building, so a bit of a climb with luggage, we found it to be very clean, neat, and the people friendly.
The location was fairly central making it easy to get to the majority of sites.  I would certainly recommend it for a relatively inexpensive and comfortable place to stay in Ulaanbaatar.

Very comfortable and clean guesthouse

After our return from a 10 day tour that we had arranged via a different operator we stayed at Sunpath hostel during Naadam festival. The location of Sunpath hostel is good, the double room was big and clean. The breakfast was simple but okay. However what we didn’t like about Sunpath was the negative atmosphere that was mainly caused by the indifferent attitude of the owner and the fact that the staff/owner practically lives and works from the couch in the common area. In the three days we stayed at Sunpath the owner never looked us in the eye except at check out. Instead she was constantly looking on her phone while talking with us and didn’t actually pay attention to what we were asking. Due to her behavior we did not feel welcome in the hostel. Maybe if we had booked a tour with her, she would have been more interested and friendly to us.

Negative atmosphere and unfriendly owner

I stayed in a private double room at Sunpath Guesthouse for 2 nights. The guesthouse was clean, comfortable. However, the breakfast provided was pretty bare - only bread with jam and butter. 

I had chosen to stay at Sunpath because I was scheduled to go on a Gobi tour with them. I had booked the tour weeks in advance and paid a $100 deposit. However, two days before the tour was to depart, Doljmaa (the owner) cancelled the tour. She tried to offer me another option of flying to a tour that was already in progress, but I would have missed 2 days of the tour and I was unwilling to do so. Doljmaa then blamed me for not being flexible, even though she was the one who cancelled the tour I had reserved and confirmed in advance. Given this experience, I would be weary of booking a tour with Sunpath / Doljmaa.
