We had a nice dinner here. The pasta was nice, not extraordinary. I give extra credit for the excellent location and beach views. The service was good. I’d recommend the restaurant, but don’t feel like it’s a “must return.” Try the grasshopper appetizer if you’re feeling like something savory and crunchy.

A subtly nice dinner

The food I had was good. I ordered a salad with goat cheese and a vegetarian pasta dish. The staff was nice, but could be a bit more attentive in my opinion. They had a mexican live band there on this evening and they were annoying as they were way too loud.

Thanks to Irma, the owner whom was very nice to us. All the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very nice and cozy. The jardin is exceptionally beautiful and well maintained. There is one hamac in front of every room. The restaurant is also good. Right in front of the beach and close to downtown but still very quiet.

Posada for a week is not enough

We chose Posada Mexico for its beachfront location, and its proximity to the main street of Zipolite, with its many restaurants. Cabana Sol was perfect for our needs, with a nice sitting out area complete with a hammock and a comfortable beach chair. We enjoyed the huge cactus garden. The cabana was spacious enough for two, with a comfortably firm queen bed and two decent pillows. The mosquito netting was attached to a frame that made it easy to deploy and was less claustrophobic than most. The two fans were quiet, circulated the air well, and kept us cool at night. The bathroom was spacious and the cold-water shower, toilet and sink worked well. There was adequate storage space for our suitcases and clothes. We spent many hours relaxing in the covered lounge/restaurant area, where the wifi signal was the strongest and we could listen to the sound of the surf and watch the beach goers. The only negative to our stay was the loud music coming from the bar directly across the street from our cabana, which lasted until the wee hours of the morning, night after night. Don't forget your ear protection; you'll need it. The on-site restaurant was popular for breakfast and lunch, but it wasn't open for dinner. We didn't eat there, as there were so many other restaurants from which to choose. Our cabana was cleaned daily. The staff was friendly and attentive. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat, but next time I'd bring better hearing protection. Hubby's ear plugs worked well and he slept like a baby.

Wonderful location

A very good restaurant with an extended Happy Hour and a hearty breakfast. Excellent food with a menu in English. Staff also spoke English. A very romantic setting right on the beach. Great place to watch the sunset.

Great Happy Hour!

Various room choices all reasonably priced smack on the beach in centro Zipo. Good restaurant breakfast and dinner including mexican specialities and pizza at night. Host is most acommodating staff friendly and helpful. Nude beach with special shell hunting in the morning. Third visit and all is well. Will return soon.

Friendly and relaxing

The room at the Posada Mexico was reasonable for the price. There is a nice bar-lounge area in the restaurant but beyond that the amenities are few. There are no real beach chairs or lounges and only a couple thatch umbrellas.  You are not allowed to use the towels on the beach.  For a 100 peso deposit, they will lend you a sarong.  The wifi is a sometime deal.  However, where the Posada Mexico distinguishes itself, and not in a good way, is service.  

Issues started before we got there.  As directed, I made a one night reservation deposit via PayPal. About 2 weeks or so before our arrival, I got a terse email telling me that they were cancelling our reservation due to lack of deposit.  After some back and forth, I sent them their original email instructions to me which had a different email in it.  They finally found the payment. I don’t think they were trying to cheat me but rather that it was just sloppy bookkeeping but the negativity of the cancellation email was unnecessary. 

One night, they had a private party for a very large group complete with dancing and PA system.  That itself wasn’t a big deal but they made it uncomfortable for us to just have a drink before we went to dinner elsewhere. However, the worst was that our room was right off the restaurant so we got to try to fall to sleep to a bunch of drunks wailing along to the music.  When I pointed out that maybe they should have given that room to someone connected with the party and us one in the back, I got a blank stare.  

The next morning, we tried to have breakfast at the restaurant.  We had gotten our coffee and the waiter was posed with pen on pad to take our order when a group of about 8 (with a guide, I think) walked in.  He simply stopped waiting on us and went to attend to the group.  After about 10 minutes, we decided to leave. 

On our last day, I had mistaken the check out time for noon rather than 11. At 11:48, Irma (the manager/owner??) informed me of the time.  I told her that my husband would be back in about 15 minutes and we would be out shortly thereafter.  Well, that was not good enough!  She told me to get out immediately because ‘someone was waiting for it’.  We left out bags in the common area and went to lunch (elsewhere).  When we came back to pick them up at 1:30, our room was standing with the door open and no guests to be seen.

There are lots of places to stay in Zipolite. Skip this one.

The place is nice, staff is friendly.
Sometimes you need to wait a bit. They are always busy.
The prices are ok but a bit higher then on other places in Zipolite.
Steaks are really good, Pizza as well but the Pasta is overcooked which is bad for a italian restaurant.

I arrived at Posada Mexico after a group trip kind of fell apart and had to find my way there on my own.
I knew Zipolite from a trip 10 years previous and had much expectations of the general atmosphere.
The first step into Posada MExico set the mood right away. Walking through the luxurious desert/jungle garden made me forget my 20kg backpack and the zig zag stone path lead me right into the gorgeous panoramic view the restaurant offers.
Reception was kind and helped me de-stress right away.
A beer in hand, we settled the paperwork in a moment and she lead me to my room.
When she opened the door, I couldn't help but let a gasp out as I admired the carefully curated décor.Each room had its own little patch of sand for a terrace with a lounger and a hamac.
Once my bag down, I enjoyed a cold shower and after i drenched myself in mosquito repellent, settled in the hamac for a breath.
I stayed 5 days at Posada Mexico, and I sure hope to be back there soon again, especially now I've seen the nuptial beach front suite on the first floor. Just gorgeous. Next time I'm having that one!

A patch of luxury on paradise beach

Nicely kept, simple lodging that's got a perfect beachfront chill vibe. Lovely grounds and gardens that were well maintained. Good restaurant, good drinks and really nice staff. Located centrally on main street with many shops and restaurants in a couple blocks. A very reasonable price.
